Welcome to the supernatural creature's haven, Kinau. Kinau is a fictitious town on the O'ahu island of Hawaii. Why supernaturals have congregated in the island city is still unknown, but the inhabitants, human and supernatural alike, are learning to adjust to their new reality.
This site aims for a supernatural spin on a slice-of-life city, complete with an academy and college to ensure everyone has a place here.

It wasn’t hard to distract herself somewhat by letting her gaze wander as Merrick led her to the dining room, the spacious expanse of the vampire’s home and the subtle luxury filling it making her a little envious given her own home was very much a barebones affair that she didn’t even own. It also made her wonder a little about what it was like for the woman to live in a house this large by herself – at least, it seemed as if she lived here alone anyway.
Then her eyes settled on the aromatic food on the table prepared for her, and Chidori’s blush strengthened still; it was a little embarrassing to think of how much Merrick was doing for her given they barely knew one another. Yet… in a way, she already did trust the vampire, though a part of her desperately hoped it wasn’t a misplaced trust. Her parents had played a long con of sorts after all, giving her over a decade of a decent life before turning her trust against her for their own ends.
Gingerly brushing the suspicions aside, the silent brunette did as the vampire bid and took a seat, smiling softly at the gentle politeness of the elder woman’s words and mannerisms. Chidori paused a moment when she felt the light drumming of fingers on the frame of the chair, wondering briefly what the vampire woman was thinking about. Not that she had to worry, since Merrick quickly spoke her thoughts aloud and gave her leave to start. At those words, the younger woman’s stomach grumbled embarrassingly, and she meekly nodded, picking up the utensils almost daintily, as if she were out of practice with using them. Slowly, she began to dig in, spurred on when her tastebuds were set alight by the delicious meal. Soon enough, she ate with a little more gusto, still taking time to enjoy the flavours, yet seemingly intent on consuming every last morsel served to her. It had been a long time since she had eaten such a well-prepared meal after all.

gotta stay high all my life to forget i'm missing you
Wordlessly, Merrick pulled her hands away from the chair and walked off to prepare her guest’s chosen drink. The woman opened some cabinets to find the needed items to make hot chocolate, pulling those out before the kitchen counter then working soundlessly with her task. She can remember her mother giving her that hot beverage before and somehow, she made it special for her back then which invoked pleasant memories of her earlier years. It brought a faint smile to her lips that she even remembered the Bartholomew matriarch humming a distinct tune as she tended to her daughter.
Unconsciously, the vampire began to hum the tune under her breath. It was a soft sound though with the silence in the large expanse of her home, Chidori might be able to catch some of the notes the woman was humming. Merrick was a lover of music and sometimes, she gets too immersed in it she forgets her surroundings sometimes, like now. The sound of something being stirred would be heard for a moment before it ceased, with the vampire turning around holding a mug of piping hot chocolate topped with some whipped cream.
She moved back to the table and sets the mug down beside where Chidori ate, seeing that the girl was finally consuming the food and taking in the proper nourishment she needs. The sight of it was more than enough to assure the older woman that it will not be long before her guest would be back on her feet. Letting out a soft exhale, she said, “Here you go. Careful, it’s a bit hot.”
While her task may be done, Merrick was reminded of something else; something she might have forgotten to do despite it being a nightly routine, but this night have thrown her off track, not that it was that serious anyway. Quietly padding across the room, the vampire went to the closed curtains and threw them open then pulled it to the sides, revealing the view through the clear glass sliding doors. The house was situated on some high hill overlooking the town of Kinau, still slumbering with a few lights flickering here and there, though it was the view of the beach that made it more beautiful. The night sky was a mixture of dark blue, deep purple and black, the stars twinkling over the waters that lapped at the shore. The woman chose a good location to build her home and this was the view she will never get tired of each and every night.
Merrick retrieved her notes from the other room and soon settled on the chair by Chidori’s right side. Placing the book on the table, the female looked at her guest and asked, “How was it? Was the taste alright?”
