Welcome to the supernatural creature's haven, Kinau. Kinau is a fictitious town on the O'ahu island of Hawaii. Why supernaturals have congregated in the island city is still unknown, but the inhabitants, human and supernatural alike, are learning to adjust to their new reality.

the valentines dance is open to all. staff will post a starting thread and you can post an entry or make a thread of your own. the dance will take place near the beach. its all outdoors with the dance floor being in large pavilion.
for those that show up without a date. fret not. we have a little sign up sheet for blind dates.
if you don't want your character to participate in the blind date, don't worry they can still be part of the dance.
apart from the dance there will be food/drinks and of course access to the beach.

Minx had promised his beautiful Major Mitchell's Cockatoo Eto that he would take her to the pet store sometime during the week to buy her some more yummy treats and little toys and possibly a larger cage considering the one he had was the same one from when he first got her... And well, she had grown to be a rather large bird along with her pal Tabs. So today was the day as Minx wandered through the shopping district of Hawaii, smiling at the beautiful scenery. On his left shoulder sat the large Major Mitchell's and on his right shoulder sat the beautiful Goliath Black Palms Cockatoo. He caught the many gawks or whispers of how strange he looked but in all honesty, Minx thought he looked rather laid back. He had even taken the time to look decent this morning by pulling his dreads into a pony tail! He even wore a nice pair of black joggers and a white t-shirt! wasn't that decent enough? Apparently not.
As the man wandered on into the pet shop, he was greeted by a couple of the workers who obviously knew him considering he did bring his birds here often ever since he moved there. They had grown attached to the birds as they seemed very loving and open towards them, often making sounds that one wouldn't hear often from a bird. He enjoyed it as well as it gave them more room to socialize and get use to other humans speaking and touching them. "Oh Eto! You've grown a little since I've last seen you!" A female cooed towards the majestic white bird who seemed to become flustered as she lifted her large wing and shoved her head under it. Almost as if it was an act of embarrassment. The woman simply giggled and rubbed the bird's neck before moving on to coo towards Tabs.
"They have been a bit cranky, they miss their treats since we ran out last week." Minx explained to one of the other workers who gasped, glancing at the two birds. "Well that is terrible! Well I will ring you up the usual! Anything else?" The woman questioned. Minx glanced around towards the bird toys. One would think he was whispering to himself but in reality he was speaking to his birds, asking them which toy they preferred. Of course, they responded by bobbing each of their heads towards a different toy and Minx grabbed them, moving to the counter as he placed them down. "These as well." He said with a Thick Russian accent, one that could easily make anyone melt.
"Can I pet the birds?"
Minx was quick to turn towards the voice only to be greeted by a figure who had wandered up behind him. With furrowed brows as he examined the person, he eventually nodded and pointed to the bird on his left, "Eto," He then pointed to his right shoulder, "Tabs."

Claire was so happy that she was actually able to get a little condo instead of having to live on campus so that meant she could do what she want. Having a place to herself without her parents, a room mate, or anything like that. She decided she was going to get an animal. She wasn't sure if she wanted a dog like herself, or maybe a cat. Just like her mother which caused her to giggle a bit. Wearing a long sleeved pink shirt with red sleeves and a pair of skinny jeans with a pair of black and white converse looking shoes. With a matching red belt to go with her shirt and a cross necklace her father had given to her before she left. Looking at herself in the mirror seeing how much her breasts stood out even in a shirt like this she blushed and sighed. She thought of herself as so big...it was rather embarrassing since that's all the men seemed to want to stare it. If only she could find a man more interested in her then her chest.
Shaking the thought from her mind she grabbed her bag and keys. Slipping her keys into her bag and flipping the bag over her shoulder Claire decided to head out. Luckily the pet shop wasn't too far away from where she was living now. The town was surprisingly close along with her school. So it made things even better. Walking down the street she smiled at everyone who was watching her. Saying hello to some of the people who would say hello to her. Being rather happy that most Hawaiian people were actually pretty nice and friendly. Especially a lot of the older men and women around which was wonderful. Seeing the pet shop coming up Claire smiled brightly and picked up her pace. She was so excited about this she just couldn't wait. Her long black hair falling around her face a little bit. Since she really hadn't wanted to pull it up today. It wasn't too warm today so it felt wonderful to just have her hair down. Once she was there she rushed right in and looked around in awe.
Walking around at everything she didn't know where to begin. Looking at the puppies and kittens. Only to notice the little rodents. Giggling as she looked down at them. "Aren't you all so cuuuute~" she said softly. Only to sudden look up and noticed a rather large man. Meaning large he was surely built well. All those muscles...soon gasping Claire shook her head and took a breath. She didn't need to be staring. Only to notice the huge bird sitting on the man's shoulder. Built well like his master was. "Wow, your so huge! But your beautiful" she said rather bluntly. Only to see the man turn and notice her. Causing her to blush and gasp. "I-I'm so sorry! Wh-what I meant was..ummm...s-sorry I was uhh...talking to the bird..." Groaning as she lowered her head and turned away. She felt so stupid, that was beyond embarrassing! Her body trembling a bit Claire just wanted to hide now, way to make a first impression.

The woman could only blush and gasp as he looked at her. Minx was not the man to gawk at a woman's body, he found it very disrespectful and rude and would not do so unless he had her consent so he just looked to her face with a smile. Respect was something he would give to this one as she seemed so embarrassed. She seemed so nervous and shy it made his heart melt. Eto on the other hand created a purring sound from her throat as she nudged at Minx's dreads. Tabs on the other hand shoved his head under his wing, displaying more of a shy nature.
"Please, do not be sorry. It is fine." He said with a smile. It was a warm smile, one able to calm anyones nerves. An effect he had on people. "Everyone talks to them, truly dear it is fine." The words of course sounded slightly different because of his accent but one could still make out what he said. Eto slowly moved herself down Minx's arm in which he raised slightly towards the female as the bird moved down to his hand, leaning out and bobbing her head to the female. "This is Eto." He said calmly with a small nod. Raising his other shoulder where the black bird sat hiding her face, he said, "This is Tabs. He is quite shy so forgive him." This was Minx's way of introducing his birds, Eto was the social one and Tabs was the shy one, never really liking to be noticed by others but Minx forced him.
Seeing as she turned away from embarrassment, Minx couldn't help but smile slightly. Twisting his body to face the cashier, he paid for the snacks and toys and nodded his thanks to the woman as he took the bag. Turning back to the younger woman who stood behind him, he kept his arm out as Eto continued to examine the female. "Oi, no need to hide yourself." He stated calmly, moving out of line as he came to position himself infront of the woman once more. This time he took a moment longer to take in her features. The long black hair, the stunning grey-blue eyes that glistened ever so slightly. She had a rather fair complexion and there was a a strange beauty to her. A strange feeling came to his stomach but he stopped it, only to shake the thoughts away. "What is your name if you do not mind me asking?" He questioned calmly.
She felt like she just wanted to be anywhere else but here. Claire hated how she was always so socially awkward. But she'd be lying if she didn't admit she got distracted looking at the man. Her dark eyes trailing back up she got a glimpse at the one bird. Seeing how it seemed to be curious about her. Causing her to smile a bit. Seeing the second one how it seemed shy like she caused the dog demon to giggle softly as she watched them both. Even though they were rather decent sized birds they were pretty. She was just hoping they wouldn't all of a sudden attack her or anything. But as she watched them both Claire thought they were beautiful. But she couldn't help but let her gaze go back towards the man every once in a while as she took a breath. Hoping her blush wasn't getting any worse. She was embarrassed as it was she was hoping he wouldn't notice.
As she looked back to the man seeing the smile on his face caused her to bit her lip. He made him look rather handsome. Grabbing a strand of her long black and started tugging on it gently and nervously. "They are very pretty birds" she said softly. Soon noticing the female coming down off the man's arm Claire got a bit closer to get a better look at the two birds. Being introduced to them she giggled softly and looked at the black one who seemed to be hiding Claire smiled more. "It's nice to meet you both. Your very pretty, you don't have to be afraid pretty bird. I promise I won't hurt you. May I see your cute little face?" She asked softly speaking to the shy bird. Looking at the other as she smiled brightly and made a couple of soft kissy sounds at the birds. Hoping that maybe she could get the shy bird to open up a little. He reminded her a little of herself since she could shy really shy too.
As she let the man pay for his things Claire took a breath to try and calm herself down again. Feeling how her heart was still beating rather quickly she mentally kicked herself. She had no idea why she was this worked up. "That accent is intriguing, where's it from?" She asked being curious. It sounded almost Russian but she wasn't completely sure. Keeping herself quiet as she looked around the shop again. Still trying to make up her mind for what animal she wanted to bring home with her. Soon looking over when the man spoke to her again. "Claire, Claire Chambers. And yours?" She said as she pushed back some of her black hair. Feeling her face still a little warm from her blushing a bit. Hoping to not make too much more of a fool of herself.

Minx eyed his two birds, Eto mostly as she seemed the most curious about the female. She had moved down his arm and everything just to get a good look at her and the girl herself was eyeing the birds with wonder and awe. In all honesty, it sort of warmed Minx in a way the way she acted. Smiling towards the birds and even he caught her glimpsing at him a couple times and the blush that formed on her face. He wasn't the type to embarass others so he was not going to mention anything about it.
He kept an eye on the woman who grabbed a strand of her hair and began to tug on it gently. With a small smirk, he watched as Eto attempted to interact with the female but she seemed to be talking more towards Tabs, his shy baby. And she wasn't going to budge. Eto bobbed her head some as she watched the girl make kissy sounds and faces towards the two but she directed them to Tabs who slowly brought his head out from under his wing to take a small look at her. His feathers ruffled up slightly as his head tilted and his eyes stared at the female shyly. "He's very shy. I'm shocked he's even looking at you in all honesty with how nervous he is around people." Minx commented. He was telling the truth though as Tabs slowly lifted her head and bobbed it up and down, twisting his head here and there to look at her.
"Russian." He responded to her question. He flashed a smile once more as he finished paying and turned to give his full attention the woman. He couldn't be rude and make her think he didn't care for what she said, that was not manly of him. He watched as she looked around and he went ahead and asked for her name in which she responded. "Minx. Minx Karnik." He said with a smile. He noticed the blush that was still coating her face and Minx extended out a hand to cup her face gently. "Are you alright? Your face is quite red, Claire. Are you cold?" He spoke softly and calmly, making sure only she could hear him.
Claire was doing her best not to notice that she was still blushing. She really had no idea, what did she truly had to be embarrassed about? She wasn't too sure anymore but it was happening. Maybe because she found the man handsome and didn't want to be caught staring. She was going to keep her focus on the birds so she wouldn't have to seem like a complete idiot. Almost like she was blushing over nothing. Watching the birds made her think that maybe a little bird would be the way to go. She had never truly thought about it before. But since her mother and grandmother were cats and if they ever came over she had no idea if they would try to go after it or not. Shaking the thought out of her head the dog demon sighed under her breath. She truly wasn't sure on what she wanted to do. Getting distracted by bumping into this man but it really didn't bother her. He seemed pretty nice so she wasn't going to complain.
Watching both the birds she noticed Eto was enjoying the attention that Claire was giving her. Giggling and smiling brightly she was enjoying the interaction with the birds. Whistling softly at both the birds Claire noticed when the shy bird Tabs finally started to come out and let her see him. "Awww see? Your just the cutest~" She said softly to the shy bird. Reaching her hand up to gently pet both birds. Hoping she wouldn't be bitten or anything. She wasn't trying to hurt them or anything. She was just having a nice time and wanted to pet them and show them she was a nice person. That wasn't going to cause any harm. "I'm glad I got him to open up a little" she said with a small giggle. Seeing the bird open up a little bit more the dog demon smiled brightly. It was really nice to see the bird coming out of his shell.
Looking back up at the man when he spoke of where his accent was from Claire smiled. Seeing that smile on his face she smiled a bit more and giggled softly. "That's actually pretty interesting" she said softly as she played with some of her hair again. When she heard the man's name Claire smiled more as she took a breath. "It's nice to meet you Minx" she said to him softly. This really wasn't too bad, she was enjoying her time talking to the man. When she had suddenly felt a hand on her face Claire gasped under his breath and felt her heart beginning to beat faster. "N-no, I promise I'm ok!" shutting her eyes and looking down for a minute. But she couldn't help but to rather enjoy the man's touch. She was only used to her parents touching her like this. He felt rather warm as she leaned into his touch a bit. Just tried to calm down a little bit and get her head completely back together.

The bird, Tabs, seemed to be quite embarrassed at the woman as she spoke to him so sweetly. Eto was becoming quite jealous, creating small sounds just to cause the young girl to look at her and even Minx himself couldn’t help but want some of the female’s attention. He softly clicked his tongue, causing Eto to stop his strange sounds. Of course, both of the birds were quick to nudge the woman’s hand as she reached up to pet them. They let her, seeming to enjoy it more than ever.
“So am I,” Minx spoke quietly, glancing at the shy bird as it looked to Minx in a pleased manner. He was more than shocked his shy creature was capable of giving his attention to the woman. He wasn't even able to do that if it were just him talking to the bird. The woman seemed to have an abilty to pull his bird to look at her and become comfortable and it was obviously working on Minx as he allowed himself to calm and relax about her.
Noticing the giggle, he couldn't help but chuckle to himself. "Born and raised in Russia as well." He commented towards her. As he stood there, he watched her take a strand of hair once more and played with it before speaking. "Lovely to meet you, Claire." He said with a wink.
"Are you sure...?" He questioned with furrowed brows.
Her reaction to his touch was most pleasing. Even though he was a respectful man, he was quite the flirt when it came to being around enticing woman and this one easily caught his eye. She was quick to look down, avoiding eye contact but she rubbed her face into his hand easily as if it was comforting to her. With a small smirk, Minx leaned in some to the woman. "So why are you here? Perhaps to purchase an animal?" He whispered as he made sure to keep his voice low. His eyes shifted and his hand tilted her head up so she was forced to make eye contact with him. “Your face, dear. It is quite red.” He commented.
