Zachary was glad that Hachiko sounded excited to join him. He started leading the way, having a place in mind. Hachiko asked where they were going, "You'll see." He promised, Hachiko asked if it was his favorite. "It is one of my favorites." He admitted with a smile on his face. "I think it is beautiful, you'll have to tell me when you see it." He smiled, as they walked Hachiko asked his question. It wasn't that far but Hachiko had given him an excuse to drive.
"It's not to much trouble, I don't mind driving." He tried comforting Hachiko. A thought crossed his mind, he couldn't help but think that Hachiko might find his car beautiful and take a picture of it. He lead Hachiko to his car, pulling out his keys, he unlocked the doors. The doors automatically opened, Zachary waited for Hachiko to get in before he walked around the car to get into the drivers seat. Relaxing he pushed a button on his keys which closed the doors to his car before placing the key in tbe engine to start it.
Zachary pulled out of the paeking spot slowly, making sure he was extra cautions before driving onto the road. Normally he wasn't that careful, but with Hachiko in the car he decided to make an exception. As the restaurant came into view, he pulled into a parking spot and parked the car, pushing the button on the key to unlock and open the doors. He got out and met Hachiko, then clicked his keys oncd more for the doors to close. He then walked in front to open the door for Hachiko to walk inside first.

Zachary was catching on fast- Hachi was delighted to take pictures of his car. It was almost instinctive- he raised the camera up, ready to snap, only for the error: insufficient memory. Oh, right... There were a few pictures on his camera that he never deleted, so he needed the memory card. He pulled it from his pocket. slipping it back into the dslr, before reaiming and shooting the car. One click. A bit of a shift, a little zoom: the second click. More zoom: the third click. Then he swung the camera around, taking another shot of Zach standing there. With that he seemed satisfied to lower the camera, letting it rest against his chest as he slipped into Zach's car. [break][break] "You have a beautiful car, Zach." Hachi complimented sincerely, pulling on the seat belt out of habit. He did notice Zach seemed to be a careful driver, but his eyes wandered. Was that alcohol on the floor in front of him? Hachi reached for it. [break][break] "Zach! Can I have some of this?" Hachi pleaded hopefully. "Please? I'll pay you for it." He held tightly to the bottle as if he expected Zachary to take it from him at any moment. He was eighteen- drinking wasn't something he could legally do here in the U.S., but in Japan he was of age. So, really, if they were going by the laws of his home country, there was no problem. Reluctantly, he let one hand off the bottle so he could use it to stroke Zachary's arm. [break][break] "Just a little bit before lunch?" Hachi knew it was early to be drinking. It wasn't like the boy was an alcoholic, though. Just an excited high schooler who wanted to see what all the fuss was about. [break][break] When they arrived at the resteraunt, Hachi placed the bottle under his seat- he didn't want Zachary to get in trouble- before getting out of the car. When it appeared Zach wanted him to go first, he lead the way into the unfamiliar eatery, feeling a bit excited now.
Zachary found himself smiling when Hachiko tried taking a picture of his car without the memory card in the camera. Once the memory card was back in the camera, Hachiko took a couple of photos. He found himself unprepared when the camera was aimed back at him, a big embarrassed smile on his face as Hachiko took his photo. Once inside the car, Hachiko made a comment about his car. Flattered Zachary replied, "I'm glad you like it." He really liked his car too, something he could find himself talking about for hours, a hobby he picked up well growing up that stayed his hobby even after his first shift.
Well driving, an unexpected question was asked and he found himself nervous when Hachiko had asked about the alcohol. I don't know how old he is, we both look young but I don't want him drinking if underage, but then again I dare not ask his age... If he wants some, who am I to stop him? Hachiko was willing to pay for it and Zachary already knew the price to be paid. He took his time answering, feeling a hand rubbing the sleeve of his shirt against his arm, it was times like this he wished he rolled the sleeves up or wore short sleeves.
"Alright, alright. But only if you can open it." The task wouldn't be to hard, since he was driving, he wouldn't be drinking any, for now. Had he known Hachiko was eighteen, he would have declined, saying he wouldn't want to know if Hachiko was drinking or not because he could get into a huge amount of trouble as Hachiko, just for knowing about the underage drinking. But then again, he knew about the different age limits and once close would ignore the law to enjoy the other's company, at his home or at a bar. He was glad to see the bottle had been hidden after he had parked the car.
Hachiko walked inside and Zachary followed after him, allowing the door to close behind him. It was a sit down restaurant, serving seafood as it's main dish, but having other types of food to eat as well. "I hope you like seafood, they do serve other kinds of food too but seafood is their main entree." In other words, they could go somewhere else if Hachiko didn't want to be near seafood. There was a line to be seated but when the manger saw Zachary, he came over to show Zachary to his seat, having it reserved because Zachary was a regular here. It was clear he was excited, seeing Zachary had brought Hachiko when he normally came alone.

Only if he could open it? Well, what was tough about that? The eighteen-year-old wasted no time opening the liquor. It was likely the most impulsive, and careless thing he'd done, but Zachary left him feeling bold as he swallowed the bitter liquid. [break][break] It was gross. Why did people drink this? Pulling a face, he put the bottle back to his lips, drinking a bit more. Still gross. [break][break] "Next time we should get something ... not this. We should get caramel flavored. Or butterscotch," Hachi observed, putting the lid back on. That's when he slipped it under the seat, concealing the open container that, truthfully, he should have never opened in a moving vehicle. [break][break] "I'm from Japan," Hachi chimed in. "Seafood's great," Seafood was a staple in his household, but perhaps it had more to do with living near the ocean than being Japanese. Hachi had to admit, it was quite nice to see the look of familiarity on the owner's face as he saw Zachary. And that smile. Hachi smiled back instinctively, but stayed close to Zachary. Hachi sat across from Zachary, grinning excitedly. Strange: in all this time he'd never stopped here, but more strange, being with Zachary was making him enjoy it far more than he would have alone. [break][break] || Sorry, I held off replying so he could do something interesting & I still dunno what he should do that's interesting. ._. ||
Zachary glanced over to see Hachiko open the bottle with ease, he figured as much, he was just being funny when he encouraged the challenge. He looked back at the road, missing any sign of expression Hachiko might have had on his face when he drank the wine. Zachary smiled at Hachiko's comment, "I'll let you pick it, next time." Though he wouldn't give up his wine, he loved variety. The drive was enjoyable for him, he couldn't help but wonder if Hachiko would notice the hint, as he in hoped to be with Hachiko more. Hachiko mentioned being from Japan, Zachary would answer, "I've been to Japan. I enjoyed being there and hope to return soon."
The food tasted great, he had memories of drinking there, plus it was a beautiful sight. He was glad that Hachiko followed him to tbe table just to see him sit opposite. "You can order anything you want off the menu." The manager answered, "What drinks can I start you off with?" He asked, looking between Zachary and Hachiko. "Shall I bring out the regular, Mr. Blaine?" He asked, knowing what drink Zachary wanted as well as food. "Hachiko will pick our chose of beverage, I will have the salmon with shrimp." He concluded, this would be Hachiko's choice on food and alcohol drink.

Next time? The idea that there would be a next time made him happy, but he didn’t tell Zachary that. After all, he didn’t want to point out that he couldn’t buy his own, and well, he wasn’t going to lie and try to say he could by his own. Just smiling his approval seemed like the safest choice. [break][break] “Oh, Japan is wonderful! My father sent me and my friend away a few years ago- he enrolled us in school here. But I want to go back someday.” Hachiko stated, knowing he hadn’t specified whether it was high school or college that his father sent him away for, nor how many years ago “a few” was, or what grade he was in when he moved here. “Hawaii is nice, but … my English? Not as good. All the other students think I’m simple.” It wasn’t his accent. He didn’t have a terribly strong accent after so many years in Hawaii. But, his vocabulary was very limited. There was no hiding it. He didn’t know nearly as many words as his peers, and he didn’t use the language with the fluidity of the natives. [break][break] Ah oh. He oculd choose the alcohol? Hachi hesitated, looking a bit nervous, his gaze fixed on the menu. What kind of alcohol went with fish? He knew that specific alcohols went better with specific foods than others… If he picked wrong, would Zachary realize how young he was? That he didn’t know anything about alcohol? What if he picked and hated what he’d chose? He wanted to pick, but it seemed too risky. [break][break] “I think we should go with what you usually get- I’ll pick next time,” Hachi tried to get out of selecting it. Now… food. “Can I get one sweet-and-spicy salmon taco, and a side of brown sugar cured salmon slice?” Hachi quizzed, as if sounding hopeful. But rather than looking to the waiter, his blue eyes were locked on Zachary, waiting for his permission. Though, he supposed if Zachary didn’t want to pay for it, Hachi really didn’t mind. He had his own money- well, his dad’s.
Zachary listened, unable to stop himself from wondering how old Hachiko was. If they got sent to school, surely they were in college now? Since he wanted to drink and all. Being a high school student hadn't crossed his mind. "I don't think your simple..." He amswered, trying to cheer Hachiko up. It reminded him on how he felt when visiting a foreigner country. He took the time to learn the language, but getting the accent right? It was a thirty percent chance of saying words correctly, finding himself repeating until he gets it right. "Since being here, have you gone on any of the tours?" Surely school hadn't kept him from seeing the beauty of the island.
"If not, I can give you a tour if your interested." He had money to spend but he did sometimes drive on those unsafe roads. That isn't something he'd admit to Hachiko however. Besides the tour bus wasn't the only option for tours, they had helicopter tours too, or dinner on a ship. There was so many tourists traps here but it was worth it right? He pulled himself from his thoughts, a topic they could continue during lunch, well any conversation could happen during lunch. He felt nervous, unsure of what to talk about, unless it was company related he was anti social.
Watching Hachiko pick the alcohol was amusing, to him, Hachiko must have a lot of favorites since he was having a hard time picking. He raised an eye brow when Hachiko said they could go with the regular, thought it was true that he liked variety, his favorite was wine and Hachiko had just selected it, on accident. "We'll come back on that." He corrected, making sure the manager knew not to bring the wine. The manager took Hachiko's order and walked away to put them in. With the manager gone, Zachary spoke up. "I'm a little surprised you went for regular, I know it must be hard to chose with so many different options." He paused for a moment, watching Hachiko for any reactions.
"I'm not picky about alcohol, but wine is by far, my favorite. After your comment in the car, I assured you wanted something else, so having my regular isn't an option since it is wine. By all means, pick your favorite." He was interested in knowing what Hachiko would chose. "Perhaps something caramel flavored or butterscotch..." He repeated what Hachiko had mentioned to him earlier. The manager came back, "Have we decided on the beverage?" He looked between Zachary and Hachiko. Zachary looked at Hachiko and waited for his answer.

“Tours? Uh, no. My best friend Ezra- he’s here with me, in Hawaii- and I have seen some of the islands. But we haven’t done on real tours or anything.” Hachi admitted, finding the question a bit odd. Was this because he’d never been here, to this restaurant? Or did he look like a tourist for another reason? [break][break] “I’d love a tour from you! That way I can take pictures! Unless it annoys you-- I mean, you probably have better things to do.” Hachi was nervous. He gave a nervous laugh, hoping to move past the moment. [break][break] Hachi was almost free-and-clear. Almost. The waiter was so close, but Zachary ruined it. Hachi couldn’t hide the worry that crossed over his features. This was it. This was the moment where Zach figured out- wait, what? He had a second chance? He listened to Zachary explain that the “regular” was wine, nodding in understanding until the waiter came back. Hachi supposed he could get out of this with a lie- he was Japanese, alcohol was a little different there. Was that adequate? Granted, it wasn’t like Japan didn’t sell any “American” alcohol… [break][break] “Uh- yes. What he said. If you carry any caramel-flavored or butterscotch liquor.” The teenager stammered through, looking a little like a deer in the headlights with his blue eyes wide. “I trust your judgement- whatever you think would be good with our meal.” Hachi rushed out. That’s what his dad would say a lot- he once told Hachi that the waiters were there to help the patrons with decisions like these. Not just alcohol, but to help them arrive at a complimentary, pleasant meal when the patron was indecisive. [break][break] Hachi fidgeted in his seat, slouching a bit as if he could hide himself. Though, he wasn’t hidden at all, he was just shorter now, if anything, as he looked away from the waiter and to the table in front of him, his heart pounding. Could they hear that? Could they sense his nervousness? He felt like he was sweating now- how silly was that? Surely he wasn’t, but for the werewolf across from him, he probably would catch the scent of fear. That sweaty, nervous, ready-to-run smell as adrenaline kicked in, coursing through the teenager’s body.
Zachary hadn't meant to make Hachiko feel uncomfortable, he just personality enjoyed the island and since Hachiko had come from Japan, he had assumed it possible that he hadn't seen the whole island and what better way to do that then by going on tours. Hachiko had agreed to go on a tour with him, "You won't annoy me and neither will your picture taking." Of course he had things to do, some would argue better, but he really liked being around Hachiko and wanted to put him before the company, for once. Hachiko had laughed nervously but Zachary found it cute, choosing to join in to try and make Hachiko feel more comfortable. They talked about alcohol and the waiter backed away, deciding to himself which would go best with their meal. Zachary found himself smiling at Hachiko, "Have you had a chance to visit the other islands?" He was only curious, "Perhaps if you have free time, I can go with you there as well and if your friend wants to come he is more than welcome to do so." He really meant it, he didn't mind Hachiko's friend coming along.
A few minutes had gone by and the waiter had returned with their alcohol. "Oh. Nice choice." Zachary commented to Hachiko and the manager. The food had been brought out at the same time, he waited for the manager to pour them a glass, before setting it back in the middle of the table, asking if they needed anything else before excusing himself. Zachary looked down at his food, thrilled to be eating it, and why not, he was a werewolf, werewolves loved meat. He was also happy to believe that Hachiko was enjoying his meal as well. He picked up his fork and knife, cutting up his fish, before taking a bite from it. He was raised to crew with his mouth closed and talk when he no longer had food in his mouth, so he would do just that, only making conversation when his mouth wasn't full of food. Every now and then, raising the glass to his lips to take a drink.

"I want to show you my pictures." Hachi stated when Zach insisted he wouldn't annoy him. "Ha- that's probably silly. But sometimes I think my pictures say the most about me. They're rarely of me, but... I take pictures of things I care about, and the ways I want to see things." Hachi was smiling- the idea delighted him, letting Zach see a part of him reserved for Ezra, or his family. Well, that or strangers who saw only the pictures and rarely met the "real" him. He wanted Zach to see both sides.
[break][break] "No, I haven't left this island." Hachi admitted. When Zach invited Ezra to join them, Hachi's smile widened. "I'm sure he'll like that." Well, he'd probably like Hachi not ditching him, as he had today, if nothing else. But who knew! It could be pretty fun, at least for him.
[break][break] "Thanks," Hachi mumbled shyly, not entirely sure if Zach was referring to him or the manager. Well, if he meant the manager Hachi didn't feel too awkward- he felt felt so guilty, there was no room for anything else. When the drink was set before him, he could hardly look at it, much less take a sip. He focused on his food, picking up his seafood salmon taco, only to glance up and notice the way Zach was using his silverware.
[break][break] Oh. Right. This wasn't a roadside taco stand. Hachi set the food back down, cutting the first of his tacos with a knife before stabbing it with his fork for a bite-sized, crushed piece of taco. Definitely not as satisfying, but it tasted delicious all the same. Hachi began to cut another piece from the same taco, trying to push away his guilt. It wasn't working. Hachi set down his silverware, looking up at Zach. It didn't seem like anyone else was around besides the other customers who all seemed absorbed in their own conversations, so it was safe to admit it, right?
[break][break] "Mr. Blaine," Not Zach this time. Hachi was serious. "I don't want to lie to you. I'm not twenty-one." Hachi admitted. He could have pulled out a fake ID that suggested otherwise, but like he said- he didn't want to lie to Zach. He was expecting Zach to get mad, so to preempt it, he added, "I'm sorry for misleading you. You've been very kind to me." His gaze had fallen. He couldn't look at Zach- he felt too much shame as he stared at the food he'd asked for.
Zachary was excited when Hachiko said that he wanted to show him, his pictures. Of course he'd want to see them. He wasn't sure what the pictures of him being taken had to do with Hachiko caring but he felt flattered since for what ever reason Hachiko had taken his picture earlier. Zachary nodded his head in agreement, it would be fun to show them both around the island. Zachary was in such a good mood, hearing Hachiko saying thanks was adorable to him. He found himself glancing towards Hachiko as he picked up the taco and later put it down to eat it with silverware. He was amused but chose to not say anything and continued on his meal. Shortly after he set the glass back on the table, Hachiko had called him Mr. Blaine. He stopped eating and looked over at Hachiko, wondering what he would say to him. It was a good thing he wasn't eating else he would have choked on it. Not twenty-one.... He was misleading me? He was silent, trying to figure out if Haciko was claiming to be older or not. He can't be... he honestly looks younger than me... A thought clicked in his head, he ran a hand in his hair, scratching his head nervously.
He is younger than me... I let him drink and I'm still letting him drink. Now what do I do? He decided since Hackiko didn't flat out say how old he was, that it would be fine for him to play dumb until Hachiko told him. "It's okay if you aren't twenty-one Hachiko." He answered finally, "I'm a little surprised though because you don't look that old." He finished, making it sound like he believed Hackiko was older than twenty-one. The last thing he wanted, was a possible scene in the restaurant. So... now what? Is he still in high school too? How young is he? I thought I liked Basile and he was in high school... So how old is Hackiko? I hope he isn't a minor else I'll get into a huge amount of trouble... He was hoping that Hackiko wasn't a minor, it was bad enough he let him drink when he wasn't old enough to do that. Why is he drinking anyway.... He is a bit young, isn't he? Oh wait, Japan lets you drink at eighteen.... Maybe that is why he drinks...
