[attr="class","typetext"] He was still a bit shocked that he took a life. He was more shocked that he invited the dead man to work for him. What was his life becoming now? Why was he getting so over his head that he didn't know what he was doing no more? If only she had lived then he was sure he wouldn't have become like this. But after losing the love of your life it changes you. sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. all he knew was, he felt like he had one foot in and one foot out. So his personality wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst.
Even after three hundred and fifty years he still wasn't allowing himself to open up and love someone else. He wasn't going to risk the heartbreak again. Especially seeing how he couldn't die so he'd just become colder by the day. So the half breed decided to just quit thinking about it. He done what he done and there was no going back. The least he could do was be nice and let the red head have a place to go and work since he messed his life up. Sure he could and does say he gave him a gift. But lets be frank, he'd give his gift up if he could so he knew he just damned the boy if anything.
Ignoring the feeling for now he just walked over to his closet as he grabbed some clothing to change into. He wasn't really sure what he was in the mood for. He wasn't even sure if he cared to dress up. But he wasn't planing on running the bar today. He had someone that was on shift right now anyways. So He figured he might as well go out and get some sunlight today. He already looked pale enough. Maybe if he was lucky he could get a bit of a tan.
Grabbing a white short sleeve shirt he tossed it on as well as a pair of light tanned blue jean, knee knockers. Although they had black chained belt and black chains attacked at the knees of his pants giving odd a very particular look to them. Yawning he reached over to grab his black hooded, short sleeve jacket that came past his kness. The tail end of his jacket looked as if it been torn to sherds. But the one thing that made this jacket special like all the others he had, it had a set of black cat ears on top of it. But the one thing that stood out even more then the weird jacket and pants he wore.. was his shoes.. they was a pair of normal tennis shoes, but at the top of it, there was a cat head with arms. the cat looking a bit to happy, considering Noalani always wore a bored expression on his face.
Once he was dressed he pulled the hood up on his head. His light blue hair dully falling over his cheek bones as he yawned and headed out the door. Heading down the street he wondered what he wanted to do. He wasn't always used to just taking days off to himself after all but he needed to after what happen the other night. The fact he hadn't slept in three days didn't make him feel any better either. But hey, he was alive and he was moving so he'd be fine. Placing his hands in his pocket he decided he'd go the one place he hasn't been to in over twenty years. Thats right, he was headed to the beach. He didn't really need a beach towel did he? He wasn't even sure if he was going to get in the water. He just wanted to go and get out of his bar for a while.
Besides the beach might actually be a relaxing place for the half breed to relax at. the closer he got, the more surprised he was. It was actually pretty Empty today. Well that was good. Maybe he could just lay there and sleep for a few hours. Let the sun burn his flesh he really didn't care. It wasn't like it could kill him after all. Making his way to the farthest end of the beach, where the water started he flopped down on the warm sand and just flopped backwards without a care in the world. Leaving his arms out stretched as he rested there. If anyone seen the bags under his eyes they would wonder, why.
n complete honesty, the young man known as Slade was not having a good day. He'd left his apartment early to run some errands then returned to discover that his keys weren't with him. The forgetful man has rummaged through his pockets furiously, but found them empty or filled with remembrance notes. After being very determined not to forget his keys his absent-mindedness had caused him to leave them somewhere in the apartment. Slade now considered posting a sticky note on his door that said 'REMEMBER YOUR KEYS OR YOU WILL BE SORRY!'.
To make matters worst for the young phoenix, the landlord with the spare wasn't around to give him the spare for the second time that week. Thus, Slade called him and received a loud lecture with insults included about how he should remember his keys more often. The point was that Mr. Landlord made it clear that he wasn't not pleased with the young man. There was a copious amount of apologizing spilling from his mouth in that moment, mostly because he wanted to get back into his apartment. Thankfully, the landlord was kind enough to inform him about the location of the spare key instead of leaving him locked outside the apartment. Once Slade got into the building, he placed down his bag of items alongside his mail onto his paper covered counter. Then just like that, Slade turned to leave, he wanted to forget about what had just happened, which would most certainly be an easy task. The dark haired man nearly stepped out of the doorway before remembering that he still needed his own keys.
A ridiculous amount of time was spent in search of the metal item that granted him access to his home. Eventually, he found them beneath a haphazard stack of papers that were threatening to fall and create a catastrophic mess. After he had sought out his keys, Slade felt a little happier, but he knew one thing that could hopefully brighten his spirits. With the pleasant weather, Slade was rather surprised he hadn't thought about going to the beach earlier. A walk on a wonderful day would do the young phoenix well, not to mention there was an extremely high chance he could forget about his key incident. Not that it mattered if he didn't remember this incident since Slade never did put a sticky note on his door to remind him about his keys. Which meant that the probability of him forgetting again the following week was beyond high.
In a loose-fitting grey t-shirt, simple jeans and his classic black hat, Slade began to walk towards the beach. The sun bathed Slade in a pleasant warmth that drew a a lip tight smile upon his face while he walked down the bland, grey sidewalks. This was by far his best idea today and likely the current highlight despite how trivial a simple walk was. The young phoenix was glad that he still had some free time as it currently stood. Work had been rather slow, which was never a good thing in the long run, but on a pleasant day it sometimes seemed like. There was always that thought about just having to wait until the slowness become a problem, which hopefully wouldn't lead to a butterfly effect of various other issues. That was the unfortunate part about the future, at some point you have to worry about it whether it was destined to be positive or negative.
Eventually, Slade reached his destination and was gazing at a beach covered in pale sand. The waves rhythmically lapped at the shoreline and the ocean beyond glittered from the sunlight that poured down. The scene was absolutely lovely, and Slade was pleased that he had come to see it. The beach itself was rather empty, which was surprising for a day as beautiful as this one. The phoenix had expected to at the very least see a few parents with their children out to enjoy the wonderful weather, but alas there were only a few people wandering around the sandy shores. As Slade scanned the beach, he came up with an absolutely excellent idea to forget the earlier incident, which was to start a conversation. He looked over the various visitors and found somebody lying down, but the strange part was the black ears on his short-sleeved jacket.
With curiosity lurking in his mind, Slade decided to approach the person with the rather unique attire. Once he was close enough, his spoke in his usual calm and quiet tone. "Hey, sorry to bother you. I was just looking for someone to talk to," Slade said as courteously as he could. He quietly waited for a response as he hoped not to be a bother. From where Slade was standing, he couldn't quite see the person's face.

[attr="class","typetext"] Laying there enjoying the sun Noalani felt relaxed and calm for a chance. He didn't have to deal with people at his club today. He was taking a break and enjoying the nice 'winter' air. feeling the nice warm wind caressing his cheeks, dancing along with his bangs he just wondered why every day couldn't be calm and relaxing. He didn't understand why everyone wanted to move. Why they wanted to just go, go, go. Instead of just laying in the hot sand and enjoying how peaceful life could be if you let it. Then again he was one that hated troublesome things now wasn't he? Laughing a bit to himself he just ignored the thought. He almost could fall asleep right now, almost. The only thing stopping him was, well himself! He refused to sleep unless he had to. He didn't like dreaming. It made him upset. He hated dreaming even after this long.
Just when he thought that he was in pure bliss. That no one was going to bother him and he could l;et the sun burn him he heard someone walking over to him. Figuring if he acted like he was asleep they would just walk the other way and ignore him. Of course he didn't have that good of luck though it seemed. Hearing someone talking to him he sighed under his breath. Opening his eyes he looked up at the other. Seeing it was a rather tall looking male he just let out a loud, lazily yawn. What did he say? He wanted to talk to someone? well that was just his luck wasn't it? Figures that he couldn't even burn alone. Oh well, they didn't seem rude like the bunny was. they was actually coming up to him instead of playing tag with him. "I don't care what you do." He drawn out, his voice lacking any hint of emotion, a monotone voice.
Sitting up he started rubbing his ruby red eyes as if he was trying to wake himself up. "Don't tell me you're waiting on an invitation. Where are my manners. Do please sit down." even if he may have came off as rude and uncaring, the truth was.. well he was uncaring. He didn't care one way or another that was true. As far as rude went, that was just his way of speaking. He didn't really know how to be nice to others he was just so used to being that insensitive and sarcastic person. waiting to see if the other wanted to sit or not Noa blinked a few times to to fully wake himself up. He already came off as rude, no reason for him to come off as a total jerk.
After all what kind of host, let alone guest would he be if he fell asleep when you was talking to him? After all this male was looking for someone to talk to right? Being a bartender he was so used to others talking to him and spilling stuff they wouldn't when they was sober, so why not be a good host and make the other feel at least a little, welcomed and wanted? "Long day?" He figured he might as well try to break the ice with a nice and simple question.
n beautiful days similar to this one when sun bathed the land and a gentle breeze blew. The breeze countered the heat created by the sunlight that rained down, making a lovely balance. Slade noticed this pleasant balance while he stood on the sand waiting for the young man to respond, however, he wondered if he should've passed by. From what the phoenix could tell, the young man seemed relax laying in the sand wearing his cat themed attire. Perhaps he was dozing off in hopes of getting rest or already asleep. For a moment, Slade debated leaving after he'd already spoken, but it was far too late since the young man was awake and noticed that he'd said something.
When the young man who was laying on the sand looked at him, Slade managed to notice the bags under his eyes. Seeing that easily caused Slade to feel a little guilty for bothering him, especially since his presumption was that this man in cat attire could've been catching some sleep. Unfortunately, phoenixes couldn't rewind time which meant that he would just have to deal with what he'd done. The monotone response fired off Slade's concerns over disturbing the man since it was completely possible that it was due to being tired. The dwelling concerns only increased when the slightly rude invitation came; even the nicest of people could become a bit rude without some proper sleep. The phoenix barely managed to mask his concerns over disturbing the man and his weak, pathetic excuse for a genuine smile probably didn't help much.
"Thanks," Slade responded politely. He then sat down beside the man on the warm sand despite the bad feeling he had from disturbing him.
After a quick glance at the stranger, Slade presumed that perhaps he had been sleeping. Slade was tempted to apologize again for disturbing him, especially since the man seemed to be very weary. However, as said previously, it was too late. Thus with that in mind, Slade began to think of a way to begin casual conversation, but the stranger beat him to it.
Slade nodded, his weak smile disappearing when he answered. "Yes, and it's not even over yet. Got yelled at because I forgot my keys and locked myself out. It wasn't my best memory moment." Slade intentionally left out again, the last thing he wanted was to get into the numerous times he'd locked himself out, mostly because he couldn't even remember how many times it had happened. He seriously needed to remember making a reminder to not forget his keys or else he would most likely suffer the wrath of his landlord many times over.
Soon after answering, Slade considered the stranger and how exhausted he looked. The phoenix could only presume that it was the possible result of a few bad days. "What about you? I don't mean to sound rude, but you looked exhausted." Slade asked, doing his best to not sound rude. A look of concern was drawn up on his face, generally he did not like seeing people this exhausted, hurt or anything bad really. For a moment, Slade looked at the stranger before his yellow eyes focused on the ocean where the distant outlines of boats dotted across horizon.

[attr="class","typetext"] Blinking a few times fully wake up and get his vision back in line. With Slade sitting next to him, he found himself pulling his knees up to his chest to lazily sit there looking out at the beach. It wasn't like he was trying to ignore the other. Just the opposite, he was just getting ready to listen to him and make conversation. Even if it did come off as something else.
Something could be said for him not scooting away though or completely just leaving when he 'woke' him up. When the other went to speak he gave a soft 'mm' to show that he was listening to him and not ignoring him, even if he never looked over at him. He really didn't see the point in staring at someone when you talked after all. The whole time he was talking to the red the other day he couldn't remember actually looking him in the eyes all that much.
So he had a bad day? Something about keys? Looking over at the others attire he found himself tilting his head to the side. "Why not keep a spare on that fendora of yours? If you keep it on your hat.. i'm sure you will never be locked out again.. you seem like the type that never takes it off, right?" Was that really Noalani? Since when did he actually try to help others?
Normally he would have a sarcastic comment about how annoying he was. Maybe it was because this man seemed to mind his manners. Or maybe he really was just tilted after all. Shrugging his shoulders at himself he really didn't care to think to much on it. It wasn't his problem after all. Yawning softly he reached his hand up to cover his mouth.
"What about you? I don't mean to sound rude, but you looked exhausted." Hm? He really was minding his manners wasn't he? Smirking a bit for a slight second he looked back over at the ravenette. His face lacking any emotion, any sign of amusement he had just a slight second ago. "Actually, i always look like this. I never sleep. I don't like dreaming. I don't really like eating either." He gave a low whine as he spoke.
His voice as monotone as ever, even when he whined. It was annoying. He hated sleeping, he didn't care to 'eat' either. It was to messy and he always felt like he be scolded again so what was the point when you had that much baggage? Although he didn't really care to sit here and talk about himself the whole time. Didn't the other say he wanted to talk? so why not nudge him in the right direction?
"I'm Noalani, by the way. What's your name?" Well it was a start right? He really wasn't one to talk to others often so he wasn't sure how to direct a conversation the way he wanted to. But figuring if he at least changed their original subject them it would help to distract the man. Finally someone that wasn't rude and ran his mouth like a certain energetic bunny he knew.
Although he really wasn't that bad if Noalani would stop complaining and get along with him. Looking back at the other once more his red crimson red eyes lacked any motivation in them. "You're one of them bleeding hearts aren't you?" Why else would someone be concerned about how a total stranger looked? Well then again the same could be said for him. He done similar thing not long ago, so who was he to judge really?
here were a plethora of reasons for Slade's courteous behavior, the main being his parents insisted and his occupation almost demanded it; chances were that acting rudely and foul-mouthed would simply get him nowhere. Or at least those were his personal thoughts alongside the thoughts of his parents. Thus it didn't matter how rude this young man in cat attire may get, Slade was more than likely to act courteous. Slowly, Slade leaned back and balanced on his arms with his hands splayed on the pale, warm sand. He remained quiet for a few moments, taking a second to listen to the lapping of the waves on the shoreline as they beat the sand.
When the stranger began to spoke, Slade's eyes automatically shifted their gaze back to him and found that the man in cat attire was looking elsewhere. The lack of eye contact was dismissed quickly by Slade; the only real use it could possibly serve was allow the other person to know you're paying attention, thus it was more of a reassurance. The suggestion that the stranger offered was an idea that Slade had never once considered. Hiding a spare key in his fedora seemed perfect, since it was true that Slade rarely left him without the precious headgear.
"I've never thought of that," Slade said. As Slade thought about the interesting idea, he clicked his tongue, which was a common action for him to do whilst thinking. It took a few seconds for him to catch onto the sometimes irritating habit. A tiny lip-tight grin made its way on Slade's face; surely this idea would be a success. "That might just work, thanks." Now Slade just had to pray that the useful idea did not get forgotten like the sticky note one.
Hearing the stranger's response to Slade's question about his wellness easily surprised the phoenix. Slade's surprise was written on his face and his grin instantly disappeared. It was truly impressive that people would got to such lengths to merely avoid certain things that they disliked. Then again Slade disliked his mother's coddling and dealt with it via avoidance so honestly he couldn't judge, especially since people didn't usually avoid their parents for the sole reason of them being over-protective.
"That sounds very unhealthy, but I can't really judge I guess," Slade commented awkwardly.
The last kind of person he expected to meet was somebody who neither slept or ate. At that point, Slade wasn't quite certain what to think of the entire idea. He decided that perhaps the best course of action was to stop pondering over the idea and drop the topic entirely. There had to be a reasoning, but Slade wasn't about to rudely pry into what that may be. After the very brief pondering, that really led nowhere in all honesty, Slade's attention went back to the conversation at hand in time to catch the stranger's name, which was Noalani. Now hopefully he could remember that name should he meet Noalani again.
"I'm Slade, and it's nice to meet you," Slade responded with placid grin. He was rather thankful that the conversation had jumped away from the previous topic. However, in a way the topic somewhat looped back towards the previous when Noalani asked him another question. "Oh, I guess I'm just kind of use to being concerned about others. I work as a bodyguard, so making sure someone is safe and healthy is sort of my job." It was a sensible reason to Slade, not to mention his extreme need to be courteous. It would've been impolite if he had actually awaken Noalani, but now that seemed like an impossibility. "So, what do you do for a living anyways?" Slade asked. He had after all just stated his occupation, thus he decided it was best to ask Noalani what his was.

[attr="class","typetext"] Noalani wasn't good with looking at others. He didn't always like to establish eye contact. Not only was it tiring to look someone in the face for so long but he also seen it as rude for staring. So he'd rather look elsewhere if possible. So being on the beach was perfect he could say that he was just watching the others or just looking at the relaxing water. Had the male really never thought about keeping the key in his hat? well that shouldn't be surprising considering it wasn't something allot of people would think about. He'd suggest a necklace. But it didn't seem like everyone liked jewelry. So his hat was perfect since it seemed like the hat was something the boy always worse. How? just the way the male wore it.
"Not a problem. Hope that works out for you." Such a simple answer, so why was everything he said in a bored tone? One that lacked any emotions? Because he seen no really reason to put effort into things, especially something so simple as advice. but that didn't actually mean he didn't care. Just meant it wasn't something he was practically interested in. Like this one. the whole 'seems unhealthy.' Looking over at the ravenette he shrugged his shoulders "I cant really die. I've tried to kill myself. I have no real reason to care to be alive. so why care for how health i am or tired. It's all just annoying reminder that im alive." I bet that one would take the phoenix by surprised. Heck he be shocked if it didn't Who in their right mind would just willing say that to a stranger?
Noalani. Because he seen no point in reality lying. That took to much effort to think of a nice lie. Oh wait, hadn't he just tried to change the subject? Okay no more on his weird habits. He was for sure going to change the topic this time. When he went on to say he was a body guard Noa gave a scuff, a amused one at that. That was an interesting choice in jobs now wasn't it? Looking over at him now, seeing the grin on the others face he gave a low whine. "I work at REVO.. Or rather i own the night club..I bartender there when im bored."
Yawning softly once more he went on to add a simple. "Is an over twenty one club though. I found people seem to love dancers and drinking. So i said sure why not. has nothing to do with me.. Twenty years ago it was just a simple bar.. But last fifteen years i allowed dancing and extend the club for them weirdo's that light that stuff while i just mange my lovely little bar." Was that normal? Was anything he was saying normal? What kind of person own an erotic bar and didn't even care?
Sure he cared for the workers and almost, almost considered them friends. But far as what they did he could care less. Leaning forward once more he lazily rested his his arms over his knees. "You say your a bodyguard.." He started off, closing his eyes as he went on to speak. He wasn't ignoring Slade it was just his way of being.. well himself. "Do you like it? Or is it just something you have to do?" Wasn't that a rude question? to pry in someone's personal life?
Well that being said, he was the one who offered the information in the first place. "It seems like so much work for someone thats just a stranger. Or a have to" Yeah he was a lazy slacker that didn't like to move around that much unless he had to.. but if he thought back to how he had tried to save Dakota that night. Ah.. i have no right to speak.. i probably would help if someone was in trouble.." He whined, not at Slade but at himself.
