personality
Perpetually plagued by boredom, Valeriya is both thrill-seeking and intensely curious about new experiences. She is extremely intelligent, which is partly why she bores so easily, though a long life has given her a lot of time to acquire knowledge. In addition, the succubus is manipulative, happy to toy with the emotions of others and create drama from behind the scenes, sometimes by simply enticing and teasing her pupils and co-workers. However, she is ultimately amoral, taking what she needs when she can do so, though she is intelligent enough to realise that blatant actions will cause more trouble for herself in the end, and so she can be both kind and cruel to others. history
To give an idea of the breadth of time Valeriya has been around, she was already old by the age of the Ancient Egyptians, though she took to their culture moreso than many others since, at least where her fashion was concerned. She watched, generally from the sidelines, as rulers came and went, as empires rose and fell - studying each with rapt curiosity and attention. Indeed, she had to do so to keep her mind sharp and to stop herself from becoming intensely bored; her knowledge and intellect only continued to grow with every new experience, making her seek out even more stimulation. A sensitive feedback loop really, but she has managed to keep herself occupied throughout the millennia. Beyond just academic pursuits, Valeriya was always one to indulge - being a succubus required her to feed after all, and so she took pleasure in it. At times she might have been considered cruel, taking and toying with her lovers, and at other times generous and kind, sending her partners cloud nine and spoiling them silly. To her, it was just a new experience each time, trying something different with someone different. She might have still genuinely cared for some, but the succubus made her peace with what she was early on - a demoness and an immortal - which meant she was bound to leave behind a string of broken hearts and dead loved ones. It was often easier to just not care. Nevertheless, she is a perennial predator, with a long-lived hunger and a well-developed set of skills that she is more than happy to utilise to manipulate others. She's not the original Lust, but heck, she might as well be for most.
There was however, a love a languages that kept her company throughout the years; alongside her study of cultures was a healthy appreciation of languages. Ranging from national tongues to regional dialects and accents, Valeriya aimed to master them all - and in a way, she did for the most part, becoming a polyglot of near-unrivalled talent, though she never quite told people just how many she really knew. It would of course reveal her as being far from human, which was often a nuisance for her if she had not become bored of the place she resided in yet. Even so, she moved around often, taking on a new identity to explore new places - though if someone really wanted to follow her, it would not be hard to track the perpetually thrill-seeking linguist.
In her efforts to lead all sorts of lifestyles, Valeriya latched onto a great many talents, broadening her skills constantly, though some remain favourites, such as her interests in language, cultures, acting, and sex. Indeed, when the written word became common enough, the demoness was quite pleased; she could entertain herself with reading, and publishing a wide range of written works, though she used a string of pseudonyms in place of her name. Books carried so much knowledge, and many were in need of translations, which Valeriya was only too happy to set about doing. Of course, she also had a healthy penchant for writing smut work as well - not exactly unusual considering who she was.
More recently, Valeriya took to the Russian culture; throughout the last couple of centuries, she became fascinated with their complexities and nuances, devoting herself to understanding it as much as she could. Though she retained her Egyptian fashion sense, the succubus began to adopt Russian names more often, leading to her current life as 'Valeriya Ekaterina Sidorov'. Whilst flitting about Russia however, she of course stumbled across the wondrous invention known as the Internet, leading to an even broader range of information and writing - though she noted quickly the vast amounts of misinformation as well. Perhaps, a little indignantly even, given that her response to the dissemination of misinformation across the Internet was to become a teacher, specialising in linguistics, anthropology, literature, and of course history - she'd lived through most of it after all.
Nevertheless, the strange oddity of Kinau came to her attention not long after - a supernatural meeting ground, if rumours were to be believed. Having studied Russian culture for a couple of centuries now, Valeriya was not too fussed with parting ways to explore yet another new world - she'd never been to Hawaii before, let alone a place that attracted a large number of supernatural beings. Intrigued as ever, she used her current life's accolades as an academic to apply as a professor across multiple subjects at the local college, more than a little curious to see what this island had to offer in ways to stave off the ever-looming boredom.
misc.
If anyone wants to actually know her age, she kind of stopped counting after 5000. Nor has she used her original name for millennia now - not exactly something she'll tell others anytime soon.played by Aphyria ✦ Tharja of Fire Emblem: Awakening
