Welcome to the supernatural creature's haven, Kinau. Kinau is a fictitious town on the O'ahu island of Hawaii. Why supernaturals have congregated in the island city is still unknown, but the inhabitants, human and supernatural alike, are learning to adjust to their new reality.
This site aims for a supernatural spin on a slice-of-life city, complete with an academy and college to ensure everyone has a place here.

Updates
01/29 we have a new skin! a new species and are now accepting gradeschoolers incase anyone feels like making younger characters!
The weekend had finally rolled around. That meant that Ninian and Suibhne could have the weekend together! Which was great. That meant he could spoil his baby boy. they could go out and enjoy themselves right? So why not do the one thing that he knew Suibhne would love the most? Calling in today Ninian spent the whole day getting ready. Getting out the duffle bags he tossed some clothes in for the two of them. Getting some first aid kit and wrap he figured you never know with the kids now a day.
Hell he even went as far as to grab a fishing pole or two incase he wanted to try and do it the human way. Just thinking about how long it has been since they went camping Ninian might have went a bit over board with the stuff.. although that wasn't surprising. Dragons was hoarders. So it wouldn't be that weird if he hoarded allot of things for a simple three day camping trip now would it? Laughing a bit at himself he looked down when he was done.
Rubbing the bak of his head when he noticed three different bags. Yeah maybe that was going a bit over board. Finally settling on one large bag and a tent, incase Suibhne didn't want to sleep on the ground.. Wait this was his boy they was talking about. Tossing the, never been used, tent back in the closet he was pretty content when he just had one big bag now that was laced with a few house hold foods incase he didn't want to hunt with him.
Reaching back he started to rub the back of his head. Well what else was he missing? He felt like something was missing but what was it. Shrugging his shoulders he just moved the bag over to the door to let Suibhne see it when he came home. Knowing that he would take the hint. After all it ended up like this every time. The same bag after an hour of putting things back. Knowing his boy would be home in an hour he posted a sticky note on the door for When Suibhne got home.
Chuaigh mé amach a sheiceáil roinnt rudaí amach. A bheith sa bhaile go luath! Grá agat Suibhne. Smiling a bit he knew that Suibhne would be the only one that could understand that. Shifting to his dragon form he took off into the air, leaving a little ice trail behind him that would surely melt later. Flying around for a good thirty minutes he had finally made it over to the cave he often liked to hide some of his treasures in. Slithering through the cave, going underground and past all the little things he set up for intruders he finally found what he was looking for.
Reaching down to take the item in his jaws he quickly turned on a dime and headed back out of his cave. Only to shake the dirt off of him. Going as far as to survey the land making sure no one was around he smiled a bit when he seen that no one was anywhere near their favorite camping grounds. Darting through the air once more his whole body slithered through the air like a snake when excited. Finally making his way back home he was sure Suibhne should have been back home by now. So he didn't want to keep his son waiting to much longer knowing he be whinny when he seen the camping gear.
Once he was back home he landed behind a bush he had next to the house. Shifting back he grabbed the clothes he always kept there for after he changed back. Slipping into some clothes he took the little box out of his mouth. Gagging a bit at the taste of mud and rust. Old things tasted bad when you carried them in your mouth. Holding the little box in his hand he walked over to let himself in the door. Looking around for the pre-teen he just smiled and started to head upstairs to put the box up before he was caught.

[attr="class","h-bubble"]tell everybody I'm on my way! And I'm loving every step i take. with the sun beating down, yes, i'm on my way and I can't keep this smile off my face!
[attr="class","h-text"]The moment he stepped through the door he sighed in exasperation. Why again did he have to go to school? Couldn't daddy teach him? Didn't he have like forever to learn this boring stuff? Suibhne dropped his backpack beside the door, hearing it fall against something. Glancing down, he saw the familiar camping bag.
Suibhne grinned.
"Daddy!" The twelve year old called. No answer. "Daaad!" Still nothing. Hands on his hips, the boy pouted as he turned around. The door was still open and- look there!- a message from dad explaining his departure. Suibhne pulled the post-it off the door, shutting the door finally, before running to his room.
Suibhne hid the sticky note in a shoe box under his bed that contained various notes from various people- friends, his dad, people who sent him birthday cards ... Hey, dragons kept things. Suibhne happened to like keeping things that reminded him people loved him.
With the post-it note put away, Suibhne left his room, headed for the kitchen to make himself a snack.
By the time he heard the front door open he was eating a juice Popsicle on the couch, some cartoon playing on the tv in front of the lounging boy. He hopped off the couch immediately to meet his father.
What was he hiding? Rather than speaking, the young dragon followed his father quietly, keeping the red Popsicle in his mouth as he went.
Ninian was happy to see that Suibhne was already home. His bag by their bag meant he was here somewhere. But he needed to put something away before he was caught. He knew that his boy was as bad as he was with hoarding things. So he silently slipped upstairs to his room thinking that he was unnoticed for the most part. With Suibhne no where in sight he shrugged it off thinking that his baby boy was just watching t.v. After reaching his room he put the old, what appeared to be jewelry box up on the dresser.
Putting it up high figuring a little shorty would never see it. sticking his tongue out he decided that he needed to wash his mouth out before he end up ruining his appetite for later. So he just headed over to his bathroom to wash up a bit. Normally he would have noticed that he had a little shadow but for once he was actually distracted with other things. Grabbing some mouth wash and his toothpaste he went to brushing his teeth and washing his mouth out. It wasn't until he was done did he notice a sweet scent. So he was being trailed after all.
"Suibhne! How was your day?" He smirked playfully knowing that he would get the little boys attention more then anything. "Did you get my note? I know you noticed the bag.~" he chimed happily, walking out once he dried his mouth. Seeing Suibhne eating his popsicle, Ninian found himself laughing a bit. "You better get your fix. You won't have no more of them rest the weekend." He laughed playfully, going to ruffle his sons hair.
Kneeling down to Suibhne's level he couldn't help but to tap the kids nose, letting a snowflake touch his nose. "Well maybe we can bring some. I can keep them frozen i suppose. But what will that do other then make you more hyper?" He playfully chuckled, pulling the boy into a hug. He knew that Suibhne didn't understand why he wanted him to go to school. Why he'd rather that he learnt things from teachers instead of him. It wasn't because they knew more. No he lived through all the hell. The real reason? he wanted to give his boy a chance at a normal life and making friends instead being considered the outcasted home school brat.
Standing up he made sure to grab and have a good hold of the smaller male as he closed his door with one free hand. "So have you made any new friends yet? I haven't got any phone calls lately." Sure he knew that boys was going to be boys. That suibhne shouldn't be telling others how old he was because kids was cruel. People had a hard time believing that someone could live as long as he did. Because he knew that it wasn't till recently that the species was accepted in society. so no wonder they wouldn't believe that he was over two thousand years old. Leaning down he nuzzled his cheek against his sons. "You're so sticky"

[attr="class","h-text"]With his father out of the room, Suibhne wasted no time walking over to the dresser. Pulling out one drawer as quietly as he could, he climbed up onto it, only to realize it didn’t add much height to him. After all, he was standing in the dresser, atop all the clothes. Hm. Pulling the second drawer out, he realized the problem inherent in this plan. Pushing it closed, he stepped out of the still-pulled-out dresser drawer, looking up towards the top of the dresser while he considered his options. Maybe, just maybe he’d have to wait until his daddy left. He’d just set about quietly sliding the bottom dresser drawer closed when his dad yelled.
Suibhne jumped, shoving the dresser drawer and earning a “thud” at his forcefulness as it shook ever-so-slightly. Oops. Suibhne got up, scurrying away from the dresser, pulling his melty Popsicle from his mouth. It dripped all over his hand, leaving streaks of red to match the ones that ran down his chin.
“Yes, daddy,” The young dragon nodded at his father as Ninian walked through the door. Suibhne was sitting now against the bedroom doorway as if he couldn’t have possibly been by the dresser. He was sitting after all, trying to work out how he was going to answer dad’s initial question as casually as possible.
“I’d rather have marshmellows.” Suibhne assured him, mispronouncing the word ‘marshmallows’. Surely his dad hadn’t forgot them, had he? He smiled as his dad kneeled down, rising to his own knees so he was closer to his dad’s kneeling height, only to have his dad stand up. He was just about to get up himself when his dad picked him up.
“My new friend, Gavin, his parents are ghouls so everyone’s scared of him.” Suibhne explained. It was tough being a kid with so many supernaturals running around- there were so many strange, nonsensical alliances. But the dragon wasn’t scared of a ghoul. He wasn’t really scared of any species. His dad had lived for thousands of years- of course he would, too! Right?
Suibhne was careful, and kind, and he always listened to his dad’s advice. As far as he was concerned, there was nothing to fear. Besides, Gavin liked science, too, which was about the only prerequisite to being his friend. That, and listening to his stories without being mean or saying anything bad about his dad. At the nuzzling, Suibhne giggled, putting his hand against his dad’s cheek as if to push him away- except, he didn’t push him away at all, he let his dad stay close.
“I forgot about my Popsicle,” Suibhne admitted in explanation. “I was watching tv.” And, of course, he’d “forgotten” it again when he’d tried to get onto the dresser.
“How was work?” Suibhne quizzed. He was obsessed with his dad’s job, though he tried to act like he had kid interests too, like friends, and sports. Honestly? He just wanted to get through school so he could work with his dad. He’d see him all the time then, and he’d finally get to see what that part of his dad’s life was really like.
He knew that as soon as he left the room that his beloved son would be the curious little thing and try to see what he had hidden away. He just knew it! So he wasn't all that shocked when he heard a thud. He knew that he would try sooner or later. Frankly knowing it was sooner made him grin a bit to himself. he loved how curious his boy was and it made him want to put some more things up through the house to try and get him to investigate! Why? He wasn't sure why but thinking of his son following in his footstep's a bit did make him a bit happy. He loved watching him after all. hearing that he wanted 'marshmellows' made him laugh a bit at how he pronounced that. wasn't that just the cutest thing ever?
Smiling more when he picked up Suibhne he couldn't help but to enjoy his little story. He was glad that he was making a friend. Granted it would be nice if the friend wasn't a flesh eater. But hey! A friend was a friend and he knew that his baby was safe because how hard there skin was and he knew that even if Ghouls had sharp teeth they couldn't cut through a dragons skin. All Suibhne had to do was get scared and he knew the boy could easily take care of himself. he seen it happen before with fish... them poor little fish didn't even have a chance. Laughing a bit to himself he couldn't help but to be amused. Only to gasp in shock when he felt something cold and wet being pressed against the side of his head followed by that cute little 'oh no' tone of his sons.
Yeah he knew exactly what was against his head. "Really?" He laughed a bit when he watched Suibhne. At the mention of the couch he sighed softly to himself. It looked like he was going to have to clean up more then one mess when they got back home. Oh well best not to dwell on it now because he didn't want to ruin their little trip just because hi son had left a red trail from the couch to his dresser. After all there wasn't anything in the house, clothing wise, that he couldn't replace if he had to. "Pretty good actually! we are finally about to crack the case i have been working on for the last two weeks. I think i finally have everything i need to make my case and close it. So maybe if im lucky by time we return from our camping trip we will be celebrating a victory for the good guys."
He laughed a bit at the thought. ninian had been around long enough to know there really was no good guys but there was plenty of bad guys. The good guys was just people that was falsely accused or blackmailed. Only the true good guys was the people that stayed with their family instead of thinking of themselves. Ninian knew better then to trust anyone fully, because in this time no one could be trusted, unlike back in his time when all the crime and wrong doing wasn't nothing compared to today.. but the law was allot harder back then then it was today. Shaking the thought out of his head he looked down at Suibhne, rubbing his sticky cheek against his son's on purpose before sitting him down at the kitchen.
"I homestly had forgotten about the marshmellows but im getting them now! one or two bags?" Yeah that was right he stocked up on them because he knew how much his boy seemed to enjoy them. Seeing how excited he almost seemed to be Ninian had an idea. "Say Suibhne! If i can mange to talk to my boss. Would you like to come and join me at work one day?" Sure no responsible father would actually want to take their son to work right? Well he heard in some places they done that! it was a job day thing maybe? Or just a opputinuty of getting them to join that job when they was older? He wasn't sure but he knew he had seen a few people do that in different countries before. It might have been the thing that made him wish he had a kid long ago.

[attr="class","h-text"]Good!" Suibhne's eyes lit up. Ninian might not have believed in "good guys", but Suibhne believed enough for the both of them. "There are lots of people that need your help next, daddy." Suibhne saw his dad as a hero- someone who people relied on, who made a difference in their lives and brought "justice" to them. Like Batman, but by following the law instead of breaking it. When Ninian rubbed his cheek against Suibhne, the boy laughed.
"Heeeyy, dad!" Suibhne protested- well, laughed, really, as he rubbed at the skin his father had touched. As if his hand wasn't twice as sticky as his dad's cheek was- it was actually still damp with Popsicle juice. When Suibhne was set down, he went to the sink to put what remained of his Popsicle in before turning on the water to rinse off his hands (and destroy the Popsicle that remained, though he didn't advertise that intent). Once satisfied, he grabbed a wash cloth, running it under the water, then switching off the water before ringing out the wash cloth so it didn't drip. See- he knew better! He took the wash cloth to his father, holding it out to the older dragon so that he could wipe away the sticky Popsicle juice, too, though the twelve-year-old seemed to have no intent of cleaning up his own red-stained face. Washing your face was so unpleasant!
"One." Suibhne answered matter-of-factly. No explanation- did he even have a reason? He wasn't sure. This arbitrary decision was forgotten quickly when his dad offered what he thought to be a chance of a lifetime- going to work with Ninian.
"You mean it? I hope he says yes! I'll be really good, dad. Not a toe out of line." Suibhne promised. Trail of Popsicle aside, the boy was well-behaved. Well-mannered, respectful, and quiet, generally, he wouldn't cause problems for his dad if he could help it, but especially not at his dad's job.
"If he says yes, can we go to the forensic lab, dad? Pleeaase?" The boy clasped both hands, giving his dad his best pleading look as if it would help convince his father that it was worth the time to go and visit. Like a museum, or an art gallery, but far more morbid. At least he didn't ask to see the corners office!
