Welcome to the Hallmark movie- er, Hagen's life.

Hagen was the result of a teenage pregnancy. When neither his father, nor either set of grandparents approved of his mother's "mistake", she ran away from the city and wound up- after hitchhiking- in a small town.

Of course, those who run from their problems don't get jobs in the diner, relying on the kindness of others because of the romanticized Hallmark portrayal- working at a diner in a strange town, knowing no one besides "friends", living on the couch of some kindly, motherly woman is tough, especially with a newborn baby- Hagen.

The greatest aspiration for his mother was getting the crappy one bedroom apartment Hagen spent his childhood in. The walls were yellowed from smoke, cracked and peeling paint surrounding them, with an old metal heater providing the main room's heating. But somehow the pair fell in love with that awful, cold, rundown apartment. It'd taken hard work and sacrifice to get there- tv dinner meals, basic cable, thrift store clothing, and each other.

That's when he swooped in- the love interest, the rescuer. The man that married the young woman in her early twenties after a whirlwind "true love" romance. Sam Tyler.

Adjusting to the new addition was hard for the quiet five-year-old blond, but Hagen never seemed to complain. Not that the young boy complained about anything- he rarely spoke to anyone besides his mother, to begin with, and seemed perpetually unsettled by his new "dad" to the point that complaining would merely be stating the obvious.

When Hagen was introduced to Bernard the blond was his typical self- drawing instead of interacting, saying as little as humanly possible when spoken to, and sneaking away whenever possible. He didn't hate the boy- far from it- but there would be no mistaking Hagen's deeply held desire for being alone. Still, Bernard was rather persistent, and Hagen's desire for solitude paled in comparison to his desire for "keeping the peace"- in other words, Bernard could convince him to play along until Hagen got a chance to escape the situation and retreat to his room.

Then Bernard's father died. Hagen warmed to the boy almost instantly, taking it upon himself to push past his shyness to spend time with the redhead.

When Hagen finally, belatedly, realized this wasn't a temporary arrangement- Bernard was going to be his brother!- he couldn't help but decide that Bernard was his new dad's chance at a real son opposed to the quiet shadow lurking through the house currently. It suited him just fine.

Hagen loves nothing more than he loves drawing.

His familiar's name is Ailuridae. He calls her Lore or Lori.
