T
his was a bad idea. No, not bad. Terrible. Why had she even for a moment thought she could do this? She'd never dated before in her life. And a blind date? Wasn't dating and romance supposed to be between two individuals that actually love each other? Or at least would recognise one another if they saw them? The idea of dating someone you haven't even met is completely ludicrous, and the more she thinks about it, the more she wants to just turn tail and run. This is the last time she lets her sister call the shots.Despite what's most likely going to be a complete train wreck beyond even Eshima's comprehension - which is saying a lot - not all of her sister's input was bad. To be honest, she'd dressed her little adopted sis up pretty well, picking out a nice dark blue dress with lace around the top, skirt and sleeves, bringing out her blue eyes perfectly, but dark enough to still make them pop and stop her from standing out far too much. She'd even succeeded in taming Eshima's raven black tresses into some sort of soft curls that probably have some fancy name or another. Eshima knows little to nothing about fashion, which is one thing she is truly glad for her sister to take the lead on. She was, of course, allowed to pick some things, like color and how she wanted her hair, though her sister was the one who worked the magic, even affixing enough makeup to highlight her natural beauty without going overboard in any way. Not that it matters because the first thing the teen does when she looks into the mirror is twitch her ears back and place a hat on her head to cover them, hiding her ears perfectly. At least she
has the excuse of the cold. It doesn't ruin the look much, but it makes her sister sigh and roll her eyes with clear exasperation before ushering her toward the door.
The siblings had quickly agreed there would be no space left for parking considering how long they fussed, and how much it took to talk Eshima into this, so there would be no back up tonight. That only made Eshima more nervous, though she's at least glad that her sister won't see her screwing this up. Surely she could at least lie and say she had a good time and that it went well, right? She's always been a terrible liar, so that's clearly out of the question. The second she's dropped off and her sister pulls away, Eshima stalls and peers around nervously, worrying her lower lip between her teeth and fiddling with the silver bracelet clasped around her wrist. 'If I leave now, I can't possibly screw this up. Right?' She shakes her head slightly and forces herself to at least look a little relaxed, glad that outwardly she tends to remain unnoticeable despite how charming she is in many ways. Starting forward, she weaves through the crowd almost like a ghost before stopping just short of the pavilion as a lady steps up onto the stage and stops the music. No turning back now. Drats.
Forcing herself to seem at least a little bit in control of herself, she watches as each person is paired up, eyes flitting around from face to face in search of someone, anyone. Not that anyone would be familiar, she hasn't been here long enough. Surely no one would notice if she just...Eshima had been seconds away from scurrying off tpwhen her name is called out. She'd been so deep in her thoughts of how terrible of an idea this is, that she hadn't been paying any attention until her namreaches her ears. Her reaction is almost comical, head flicking up from where it was holding her gaze to the ground, sapphire orbs flying wide and hand reaching up to settle her hat frantically back in place as her ears prick forth in surprise. No one really reacts too much, yet the teen blushes all the same, peering nervously toward her 'date' as the lady goes back to pairing.
It takes her a few moments, in which she most likely looks either terrified, or like an idiot, yet she somehow manages to regain what little remains of her composure and stride over toward the male, who at least looks around her age if that's any merit. Pausing at a slight distance, she allows her gaze to stay down for a moment longer, shuffling shyly, before glancing up to meet his gaze and offering a whisper of a smile, light enough to seemingly blow away in an instant. "H-hi...I'm Eshima. It's nice to meet you."[ She manages to choke out, forcing her smile to look a little more genuine in the hopes he won't think her to be a total idiot. Not that she would deny such a thing for a second.
