Life could have been easier if he'd been named Hans, or David. But no, he shared a name with a stuttering cartoon cat who never quite got the bird.
Sylvester never wanted to be like his namesake. Born in Himmel, Germany, he moved to Hawaii to be that almost-albino looking boy who wore soccer jerseys for players no one in America had heard of. Before long he fell into the popular crowd, proving his prowess as a superior soccer player despite his young age. From then on he remained an excellent- obsessive, really- athlete. On the outside he seemed like your typical popular boy: adored by fans, always dating "the right girl", greeted by name in the hallways, almost always smiling, always in jersey on game day- you know, typical high school.
No one told Sylvester what was next. He got an athletic scholarship to play soccer for Kinau College, but the college was too big to notice one German soccer player. He needed something more. After a year of searching for a purpose he began to sincerely love his Sports Medicine degree and sports psychology classes. Maybe he wouldn't always be the hero on the field, but he could stay on the field if he studied and prepared for life after graduation. So, that's what he did.
