[attr="class","h-text"]The coffee came in a glass mug. Somehow, it felt different than his morning brew from Starbucks, but the college teen couldn't reject the beverage now- money didn't grow on trees, after all, and he needed to stay awake. Hagen had homework to do for an art class, and some science homework after that that was tucked away in the backpack beside his chair. He'd get to it tonight, he'd promised himself- he kept his promises.
Popping another crisp fry into his mouth with his right hand, Hagen continued to sketch with his left hand. He was drawing a skyscraper now, a half-outlined cityscape extending a few buildings to the left, and twice as many to the right. That meant that his skyscraper was slightly over from the left of the page. He was using a regular number two pencil, the lead dark and already staining both of his hand with a dull pencil grey. It wasn't all accidental- he slid his hand across the pencil lines, smearing them to give the page a certain effect, only to erase and try again.
Hagen glanced up as a glass spilled across a table a few feet away. There was some excitement, people rushing to clean up the mess- Hagen lifted his pencil, drawing in the empty "sky" space to capture the comical "run" of one of the café employees. It was a quick sketch- a chibi version of that young woman, with exaggerated cartoon features.
This was his life. Pictures, moments captured, moments imagined. No words, just observations. He glanced back down at his page, focusing on the details of the employee's attire. He was sitting alone, at a table meant for two, with an empty chair across from himself. He preferred that, tables for two. It was simpler than insisting that people sit on the right side of him, so that he could still move his left hand. That, or the edges of the table. How often could he ask? Make people move for him? No- he wasn't expecting anyone, but habits died hard.

[attr="class","round"]
[attr="class","of_life"] Bernard was bored. He was so bored. he could feel the tears forming in his eyes. Okay maybe he wasn't that bored! But he sure felt like he was! He felt like he could cry! He had returned home after picking on one of the college kids that he met on campus earlier that day when he returned to get his book bag. But even that didn't amuse him! He wanted someone to entertain him. Frankly he considered bothering the one that he called santos. But to be honest he wasn't in a very sexual mood. He was just so bored and wanted something to amuse him. So he returned home asking his 'mom' if she seen Hagen. Saying he wanted to spend some time with his little brother. When she told him he was out.. Well he knew of two places the little artsy boy would go.
So he smiled and waved at her, grabbing his umbrella as he ran out the house. Really one day someone should acknowledge he had a problem. that he never left without that thing. heading to town he checked the few spots he knew his brother liked only to be left with the cafe shop. Walking by he peered in the window. his silver eyes scanning the area. There he was! There was the little nerdy brother of his! Grinning he quickly ran into the store. When the bell chimed and a few looked up he seen that Hagen didn't that he was distracted by his art.. So Bernard decided to do something. While walking by he extended his umbrella and knocked over the coffee cup that someone had left. Which caused it to spill and the waitresses to rush over to clean it up.
Using this as a diverse he quickly disappeared behind them. Making himself unknown when he watched his brother look up and watching the scene. As soon as he went back to sketching that was when the red head had come out of 'hiding' Only to appear behind the younger male. Leaning in close to him he whispered, allowing his hot breath to tickle his ear. Why? Because what was scarier then having someone breathing against your ear, whispering when you knew they wasn't there a moment ago? "Look Hagen, watch them scurry! Watch them run, run like the coffee is hot lava!" No he rarely knew what he was going to say, what he would say rather. He just let it slide off his tongue. He wanted the reaction more then the meaning of the scare!
Maybe he was a bad brother. maybe he should spend less time painting his nails and making sweets and watch his brother draw. Maybe he should spend less time scamming others, stealing things, breaking into rooms and changing others contacts to random food names, city names, or even animal names. But then again, he was sure if he had done that, then moments like this wouldn't be half as special. That Hagen wouldn't get a little fright and jump or start growling. But then again Bernard wasn't a normal brother and he rarely took anything serious. So why would he right now? After all he was bored and wanted something, anyone, to amuse him right now and that someone just so happens to be his brother. Well, adopted brother but brother nonetheless.

[attr="class","h-bubble"]in no way is it worth losing everything I am, including these words. your heart in my hands. i'm sick as all my secrets, that's why this hurts. I can't explain the way I feel inside.
[attr="class","h-text"]There was someone behind him. Hagen jumped in his seat, then cringed, sinking down into an uncharacteristically "slouching" position. His mind wasn't fast enough to recognize the voice- the person behind him was just a male breath, his words a blur of "creepy", sending shivers down the huddled up blond's form. He didn't dare speak.
What had he said? Hagen instinctively covered the waitress chibi, his hand brushing across it like he could wipe away the slate. Of course, this was pencil, and his paper clung to the lead. It did smear though, distorting the chibi waitress underneath his hand.
The voice had said the coffee was like lava. Hagen's gaze drifted down to his own undisturbed cup. He'd drank about a third of it, but that was it. What if it were lava? The image of coffee the consistency of lava- dark, black, but molten, creeping across the tabletop crossed his mind. He wanted to draw that, too, but what did it mean? Simply that the coffee was hot?
That's when it hit him- this was his weird brother standing behind him. He'd known his name- that should have been a dead giveaway. Hagen leaned back so he could tilt his head and look up towards Ren.
"You did that, didn't you?" Spilled the coffee. He wouldn't put it past his brother to do it. Not adopted brother- he rarely added the "adopted" part when he considered Ren. Ren was just his brother.
"You're so weird." The blond brushed red hair away from himself- why did Ren have such long hair? "Why lava?" The pressing question. The one that would nag at the blond. Let's be honest, half of the random shit his brother said nagged at him, as if there were some deeper meaning besides the random mind of a bored, delinquint young adult. Not that he was complaining- what would be the point in complaining? He just had to accept it. That's who his brother was. There was no changing it, there was only trying not to get blamed for whatever he'd done- like this coffee spill. Hagen certainly didn't want to take the heat for Ren.
"You can have my coffee if you don't spill it." The artist sat back up- straight and proper- and turned his attention back to his drawing, only pausing to tap the cup with his pen as if to signal that was his cup. Now that he knew it was Ren, he wasn't worried about the other seeing what he'd drawn. Ignoring the chibi completely, he went back to shading his skyscraper.

[attr="class","round"]
[attr="class","of_life"]Oh how he loved that look. Oh how he loved the way his brother jumped and looked back at him then at the cup like it was the weirdest thing he had ever heard in his life. Well, to be honest it wasn't something people normally would say let along think about now was it? But the others reaction when he finally peiced everything together was priceless. Even more so when he realized that the little drawning was smeered. Did he really do that just because he was scared someone would make fun of his art? Snickering a bit more he watched as Hagen moved his hair.. Which caused the fox demon to toss his braid over the boys shoulder this time. After all it wasn't hard he was slouched down in his seat. Besides he liked his long hair and he liked messing with his brother. So of course he was going to make sure both was noticed!
Snickering nore he raised his painted nails up to his lips. "Who me? I'd never do that. I'm a good boy Ha~Gen!" called cutely, nuzzling his brothers cheek in an affectionate manner only to give a pleased hum when he was called weird. "Awe! i love you to Ha~gen!" There it was again, but really was it all so weird to have him call out his name in such a strange manner? No really he was asking! This was the first time he had and was wondering if it was working for him or not. buut why lava? Well that was a good question. He liked Lava! He wanted to learn to make it on his own because he was almost certain that he could if he wanted. He did have hell fire after all! Infact...
Summoning fire in his hand he snickered as he watched it 'dance' in the palm of his hand, holding it out infront of Hagen like it was nothing but a mere toy. "Want to make Lava with me?~" He snickered to himself. Ren knew that he couldn't control his power as well as he'd like. he knew it got out of hand and he often burnt things so he was making sure to keep a safe distance from his brothers face for now. Once he was finally able to make it go out, without letting it get lose and set things on fire, he reached over to gra the cup with his hand, obviously heating the cup up. Warming the coffee more then it already had been. Slipping down to sit next to, infront of, Hagen he snickered. "Could use more sugar." The red head exclaimed. He loved sweet things.
Waving his hand at the waitress he smiled happily, playfully even. "Give me some sugar, kitten!" Like that he seen her face go red as he exctended his hand out, slapping the woman on the ass with his, still warm, almost hot hand. Casusing her to both gasp in shock and embarrassment. "Ah! Ah! Cinnamon to! Ha~Gen doesnt make it riiiight!" He whinned, holding the cup to her, smirking knowing as soon as she had grabbed the dcup she'd drop and spill it from how hot the cup had become. What was that, that Hagen had said? Don't spill it? Well he didn't spill it. She did! She dropped it causing the coffee cup to shatter, spill everywhere and make a scene.
That... that was when he burst out into a laughing fit. "Opps, what a klutz. Did i do that?" He grinned, looking over at his brother winking playfully at him. "I think i made her all hot and bothered." He spoke as if the other wasn't quickly bending down to clean up the mess she had made. That meant the drink was on them right? since she was techinally the one who dropped it and ruined his drink. Smirking teasingly he raised his feet up into the seat, pulling his knees up to his chest. "quick Ha~Gen! The Lava is going to get you and set you ablaze!" He exclaimed in an almost panicked tone. His voice seeming so fearful yet his face was anything but. What? He knew how to con his way into and out of things after all. "Saaave me~" Now, now he was just fucking with his brother.

[attr="class","h-bubble"]in no way is it worth losing everything I am, including these words. your heart in my hands. i'm sick as all my secrets, that's why this hurts. I can't explain the way I feel inside.
[attr="class","h-text"]Hagen knew better than to encourage Ren, so at first he let the name slide. It didn't bother him, but the shy boy preferred familiar things, and well, that wasn't familiar. It felt a little like the kids teasing him in grade school, though- mercifully- his brother didn't resort to the simple slight of abbreviating his name to hag. This wasn't malicious, was it? Just... strange. What was wrong with just Hagen?
Couldn't his brother have controled something else- anything else- that wasn't fire? Fire was one thing he couldn't capture. He wanted to, from time to time, especially if he spent too long with Ren. But it never worked. It never held the dynamic, lively qualities of fire itself, or, for that matter, of Ren, which is what fire always represented for him. Like a symbol, constant and demanding, but elusive. Hagen leaned away from the flame, pressing himself against his chair. Rather than watch the flame like his instincts told him, he watched Ren's expression, a look of almost sadness- no, disappointment- at his brother. As if waiting for the chance to say, "I knew you'd burn me" or, "You're still not funny."
Now, as for the lava itself? You'd think it was a sincere question- could they make lava? All it would take was very very hot temperatures melting the Earth... Right? Well, that's what his rationale was- he'd have to Google it to be sure his Earth science knowledge was still accurate. If so, though, wouldn't it then have to rapidly cool? That's where he'd come in- conjuring up some wind. He'd have to remember that. Rather than writing out 'make lava', he drew a small volcano sketch, then a mini outline of a tornado- an upside-down cone, in essence, with lines in the center signifying direction- all diagnal, a slash dividing the left corner from the rest of the cone, before the lines progressed downard in that same pattern. After the volcano and tornado were drawn, Hagen drew a box around them.
Of course he couldn't just be happy with the free coffee. Though, Hagen would have to agree- it had tasted pretty bad. Would his brother believe him if he had said he had put sugar in it? Irish Cream creamer, too, though he'd gone far easier with the creamer than the sugar. The coffee had remained strong with that burnt coffee taste. Did they call that 'roasted'? How about 'awful'? It got worst: he made her drop it. Hagen wasn't sure how- not in the moments following the sound of glass shattering, at least- but it slowly occured to him. That poor woman! What was so funny about her pain? About Ren slapping her before, for that matter?
Sometimes he really didn't like his brother.
"Stop calling me that," Hagen growled, slumping back in his seat, as if he could avoid being seen when people looked over at his troublesome brother. Could he just disappear? He'd join the puddle.
"I can't take you anywhere." Hagen hadn't 'taken' his brother, his brother had shown up, but the point was the same- he'd been here what, two minutes? And already they were the center of attention for all the wrong reasons, mortifying the poor blond.
"Did you want something?" The blond asked directly. In other words, how could he make Ren go away?

[attr="class","round"]
[attr="class","of_life"]When he decided to play with the fire he watched his brother pull away and look at him. That look in his eyes made Ren put the flame away. He didn't want to admit that, that look made him feel bad. Him, a con artist that was used to tricking others, the man that was going school just for manipulating and getting others to do as you say.. yet here he was, weak to that disappointed look. Maybe he was a bit to soft when it come to his brother.. oh well he wasn't going to let him spoil his fun! Nope he was having to much fun right now for it to die so quickly. So when he sat down and decided to be mean to the help here he couldn't help but to be completely amused. If it wasn't because how red she went, then it had to be the panicked look she gave when she shattered the glass.
Well it was her fault in the first place. If she had seen he had just summoned his fire and grabbed the cup then she would have know she shouldn't have tried to grab it directly,. she could have brought the cinnamon and sugar over to him instead. But no! He was focusing back on his brother that looked annoyed at him. Was it wrong to be amused and happy right now? Because he was. He wanted to go round two with his laughing fit. Now he had to admit that his eyes appeared over to watch Hagen or rather see what he was drawing. When he seen the volcano and the lava? well he assumed it was hard to make out things when they was backwards to him. "Hey! Hey! Why don't we? I can make the flames hot enough to burn a body to ash! you have the magic! Why don't we make Lava as a brother bonding?"
Wait hadn't Hagen just complained about taking him out? Oh well he didn't care. He knew how he was! He knew that he liked making a scene because it amused him. He loved when others gave him that look that Hagen was. It was exciting because the fox demon was bored by himself. He would never mention he missed his dad and all the schemes they could do together. Without his dad around he had no real excuse to use his hacking a ability. Because frankly now that he had a normal family life all his talents was useless and he was just going to a waste. So why not talk his brother into doing something with him? He could easy replace his father. He could be his partner in crime.
Now if only he could get him out of his shell.. Wait wasn't he getting ahead of himself? he knew he was, after all he was suppose to be twenty right? He needed to learn to dull his powers or Hagen might get suspicious. Wait.. Shit he was talking to him. "Okay! Then how about... rêveur ... oh oh! Hagen! You can so be ' mon joli petit rêveur ' Wait... no that sounds like im sexually attracted to you... hmm" Thinking about another way to say it he tapped his black painted nails to his chin. "Ah! 'âme d'un rêveur' That will be what i'll call you! 'rêveur' For short." He giggled playfully, resting his elbows on the table, just staring at his brother. "I was bored, moooom told me you was out and i know your a hermit that only goes a few spots so it wasn't hard." He snickered more.
He wasn't sure when he had went from holding his knees to his chest to having his legs crisscrossed in the chair but they was. It actually made it allot more comfortable to sit in these annoying chairs. When his waitress had returned with a new cup of Irish Cream, cinnamon coffee with a spoon full of sugar. Shouldn't that taste nasty? But why was he finding himself holding the coffee cup with both hands drinking it. It was minty, cinnamony and sweet.. He liked it. It sent his taste buds ablaze and it.. well he might have found a new flavor he liked. "rêveur! Try this, come ooooooon." He whined holding the cup out. Hagen should have known he wouldn't shut up till he done as he said. He was very prescient after all and Hagen known it from the five years he had stayed with them.
Bouncing a bit in his seat he snickered and watched the women walking away. He didn't know why but that amused him. Was she looking for a thank you? Well not from Ren. He wouldn't give her the satisfaction of that. She was the one who dropped it in the first place. Focusing his attention back on his brother he closed his eyes giving a playful laugh. "Hageeen~" He cried out childishly. He loved having a brother, so much he really didn't miss his father. Wasn't that sad? Butt hen again he knew his father was the same way when he found a women he liked over the years. Which might be why they wasn't that close. well not as close as him and hagen seemed to be.. Or maybe that was all in his head because he was accepted into the family. Oh well, he could live in his fanasty world after all.

[attr="class","h-text"]Yeah- brother bonding." Hagen nodded, drawing as he spoke. A few more seconds and he was finished. He looked up at his brother. Had he just said burn a body to ash?
"Why do you need to burn a body to ash?" Hagen asked, though honestly, it sounded more like an accusation. "I'll be the one getting burned to ash when you get it too close." He added, only slightly annoyed that his brother had mentioned magic in public. The guy wasn't good at keeping secrets, was he?
"Rev-ear?" Hagen repeated poorly. "Are you swearing right now? How do you even know French?" It sounded French. Maybe it wasn't, maybe those words meant nothing, maybe the only "French" word was mon, and everything else was just syllables strewn together.
"By definition, if I were a hermit I wouldn't go outdoors at all, would I? Well, there is a meme." Hagen pulled out his phone, typing something in to google before turning his phone to show his brother this picture.
When his brother offered the coffee to him, there was no point in arguing. Setting down his phone on the table, he simply took the cup, sipping it- it wasn't awful, but what was the point of mint and cinnamon?- before offering it back to his brother. More out of obligation than desire, he figured he might as well acknowledge it.
"Yep. You pick better coffee than me." Hagen offered, picking up his pencil so he could return to drawing. Of course Ren had other plans. Sighing, the blond set the pencil down, clasping his hands in front of him over the notebook before his golden eyes settled on Ren.
"Yes, Ren? What do you have planned today?" Hagen asked. It wasn't that he didn't want to do things with his brother- if anything, once they were together he actually had moments of sincere happiness- but this moment here where his plans were interrupted? The blond disliked it. He didn't mean to make anyone feel bad, especially not his favorite (and only) brother, but the boy liked his solitude and somehow always seemed to "forget" how much fun Ren could be when he gave him a chance.

[attr="class","of_life"]Ren's grin quickly feel when Hagen said that he'd be the one getting burned. His expression soon feel to an angry, serious one for once. I'd never hurt my rêveur. I'd rather burn in my hellfire first." Where had that come from? Was he actually taking something serious for once? clicking his tongue just thinking about it he shoved the thought out of his head. Focusing back on his coffee. He didn't like being serious it annoyed him, but the thought of hurting his precious baby brother was even worse for him. He didn't know why it made him angry but he wasn't going to dwell on it! He would just enjoy himself. So he quickly went back to his normal persona.rêveur, roll your tongue~" He teased him playfully bouncing in his seat all excitedly.
Reaching to grab his phone he noticed it wasn't his, it was someone else's. Shrugging his shoulders his was probably back at the house.. or in his other pocket.. wait what was he doing. Oh right -google.- Typing in rêveur in translations he held it in Hagen's face. He didn't mind that the other had his coffee so it might startle him. dreamer Allowing Hagen enough time to read it he snickered and tossed the phone back in his pocket before the boy could realize it wasn't his because obviously Ren hated the color blue. Wait that answered one question but the second.. Was he going to admit he had spent ten years in france with his father? Nope. "Don't you remember last summer i went to france? Mom Said i could since i was over eighteen. I asked you to go but nooo." Hey a lie was better then avoiding the question now wasn't it?
Smirking a bit he waited for Hagen to challenge him on it. He had a come back just incase he wanted to. Although it seemed like he was more concerned with the hermit comment? Laughing when he was shown the picture he just rolled his eyes and held his sides. That was just to weird. Of course he'd have something like that. But what really amused him was the fact that Hagen seemed annoyed now. The way he put his pencil down and holding his hands over the notebook. But you know what? He loved seeing that annoyed look on Hagen's face that he done something he knew he'd probably be scolded for. Have you ever heard a fox bark? Well if not then you was about to. "Rooaw" He cried out happily. a overly excited smile crossed his face.
After barking and waiting on Hagen to respond Ren grabbed his coffee quickly, taking a rather large chug. Like he needed any more sweeting right now. But it was a way to stop himself from laughing at Hagen. Giving himself a moment to calm down he quickly rolled his shoulders. "Anything is fine! I'm just sooo bored and wanted to be with you. Is that so baaaad?" He whined pawing at his brother. Okay he was for sure having way to much fun right now but he really couldn't help himself. Something about annoying and spending time with Hagen was way to much fun for him. "Why wont you looooove me. You know i love yoooou!"
He laid his head down on the table as if he was actually heartbroken. But he really couldn't help but to smile. If Hagen wanted him to behave he needed to keep him entrained or this was just going to get worse for him. Really he meant nothing by it! But he hated to be ignored let alone by his beloved brother. How much sugar did he put into that cup anyways? Batting his lashes up at Hagen all cute like he tried to get the other to pay him attention or at least focus on him instead of his drawings.
