personality
Emrys is that person in the room who's always ready for anything. He's analytical, resourceful, and, let's face it, thoughtful. He's that kid you'd tease about being a perfect boy scout (truth be told, he was a pretty good one during his childhood), but you'd best take it back when you hear him speak. His foul language and his attitude are enough to deter most people from any illusions of positive traits.Emrys is distant, always just a bit suspicious and unmistakably solitary. Better alone than hurt, right? He thinks he understands the world and is idealistic to a fault but somehow, he's also charismatic when you get him on stage or in front of a camera. Perhaps it's just a show: for enough money, anyone could be anything, or... perhaps for a moment, with the illusion of falsehood, Emrys can actually be himself.
A lesser-known fact about him is that he's superstitious, putting that intelligence of his to good use. You know, lucky outfits, Friday the thirteenth is bad, black cats are evil, ect. Though, in a town of supernaturals, superstitions might not be strange or inconvenient.
history
"Rich girls don't marry poor boys,"
- F. Scott Fitzgerald
Himari's life was defined. The daughter of a Japanese diplomat, the girl existed in a sphere of privilege. To the outside world she seemed perfect. The right clothes, appropriate grooming standards, formal and crisp fluency of the German language... And then there was Dieter. If ever there was an antithesis to everything Himari appeared to be, it was Dieter. But Himari knew better- Dieter wasn't the "punk" her parents claimed. He was compassionate, sensitive, and- she was quite convinced at fifteen- the love of her life.
But love doesn't raise a baby. Himari's parents had decided she would put the baby up for adoption, and that they would move back to Japan. The fact that he'd ever left Japan at all became her father's biggest regret.
Dieter claimed the newborn, raising him alone on the outskirts of Berlin. He sent Himari photos as the boy grew from the blue-eyed newborn, into the energetic hellion- er spirited soul that Emrys was. Emrys became a copy of his father, dressed in black, baggy clothes to contrast with the white, pigment-less hair he was born with. Spiked jewelry, sharpie tattoos... To say he dressed differently than the other kindergartners was an understatement.
At age four, coinciding with Himari's eighteenth birthday, Dieter planned a trip to Japan. Far from being the reconcilliation he had imagined, Emrys and Himari behaved like the strangers they were.
Himari wed a man from the "right family" a year later. Emrys attended the ceremony with his grandparents. Four months after the wedding Emrys had a sibling five years his junior.
Emrys never did develop a relationship with his mother, but he did spend summers at his grandparents, occasionally with his half-sibling.
While in Japan Emrys worked at his uncle's night club where he was put in charge of setting up the technical aspects of concerts. One of the perks was meeting the band. That particular evening he was put in charge of Dai Revolution so that his uncle didn't have to associate with the rowdy boys.
Emrys could never have imagined that the inconsequential meeting could have lead to getting to know the band or getting an invitation to join them, but that's precisely what happened. Daiki posed the question- would he want to be a part of Dai Revolution?
Saying yes changed Emrys' entire life.
