Zachary was caught off guard when Basile took his hand and lead the way to the gym. Right when he thought the blush was gone it had come back. They entered the gym and Basile let go of his hand, he felt disappointed as if something was taken away from him. A hand that he wanted back in his grasp that he no longer had. Basile had gone basketball hunting and he in turn zoned out. And he thought Basile was a daydreamer, turned out he was one himself. He was pulled from his thoughts when he saw Basile getting off the bleachers before going behind them to grab something, he came back with a basketball in his hand. Basile started dribbling and he smiled as he watched him.
He didn't play sports but he still knew the basic steps to play the game. Basile called him an old man, that smile of his changed to a grin. The ball was passed to him, for anybody else it might have blown them away with the amount of strenght put into it. He had things thrown at him before, none as fast as this teens toss however. He caught it with ease, "You have a strong toss." He joked, counting on the comment to distract Basile briefly, he prepared to toss the ball, it went into the air, bouncing off the rim. Now see, this is why I never played sports. He found himself distracted by his thoughts before looking at Basile.
He had called him old man, it seemed fitting that he should return the favor. The ball was closest to him but he didn't waste anytime rushing over to get it. Dribbling the ball he replied, "Your turn kid." He passed the ball to Basile, it was coming in fast.

He caught it. And he complimented him. Basile wasn't sure he trusted it, though. Maybe he just didn't want to admit it'd hurt... Basile watched as Zach tossed the ball- [break][break] "Fail!" Basile declared, as if Zach hadn't noticed. Basile- already tall- lifted his heels so he was standing on his toes, his eyes bright with excitement as he waited for the ball to be passed back to him. [break][break] Zachary was strong, too. Basile grabbed the ball with ease, feeling downright giddy now. Now it was a real game. Dribbling the ball again, he closed the distance between them, turning his back to the older man when he thought he was within reach so he could take a few steps back- he needed to be close enough to the basket to make his shot. When he was confident he was in a good place, he spun without warning, throwing the ball without stopping to think about it. [break][break] The ball bounced off the backboard, rebounding back to them. Bas dove for it- ever the theatrical one- stumbling when he'd grabbed it. There were a few steps where he regained his balance where he wasn't dribbling, but he didn't acknowledge it. He just started dribbling again, nearing Zach again so he could get close enough to throw the ball.
Zachary tried to aviod laughing, he was enjoying himself but it seemed Basile was egging him on purpose and a reaction... Je was terrified of what might happen if he completely joined in. Basile caught the ball, Zachary moved in front to block, keeping pace with Basile. He threw the ball and Zachary tried blocking but failed, to his pleasure the ball hit the backboard. Now it was game on, Zachary was in game mode, he almost forgot that he was wearing formal clothes. Basile was once more making his way towards the basket, he made sure to stay in front of him, planning on trying to steal the ball when Basile turned his back to him, surprised he paused, Basile then spun around and made his shot.
The ball hit the backboard, Zachary hadn't moved and Basile haf dove for the ball. He watched as Basile stumbled, amused at the sight. When Basile dribbled the ball, closing the gap between them once more, Zachary started his offense strategy once more. He is really good at this game. He thought to himself, impressed as well as zoning out again.

Basile was overly confident. There was no doubt about it. He spun again, doing exactly what he'd just done before, ready to make the shot- but the ball was gone. Zach's strategy worked, he'd managed to block the lift to throw, stealing the ball from Bas. [break][break] "Hey..." Bas whined protested, his expression more of a pout. "I was going to make that one~!" No, he probably wouldn't have, but now they'd never know, would they? Basile's expression shifted again: he was determined, this was serious. He closed in swiftly on Zach- werewolf speed- his attention on the ball as he guarded the blond man in front of him. [break][break] "C'mon, old man, take your shot. C'mon~" Basile wasn't competitive by nature, but this was fun for the moment, to pretend with a stranger that he could be that competitive baller.
Zachary stole the ball from Basile when he tried the move a second time on him. He grinned when Basile protested, he dribbled the ball, making his way closer to the hoop. Zachary found himself grinning, enjoying this game. He laughed and position himself to make the shot but the ball barely left his hand before he caught it. This does count as being a show off, since he was taller, he could hold it above Basile's head without worry about Basile being able to reach it. "Oh? You want to make the shot? Come and get it." He joked, tossing the ball between his left and right hand, being careful not to throw it to hard so that he didn't lose it.
He was still in the middle of teasing Basile when his phone went off. Being reminded that he was the Ceo, not a student. With the phone going off, he dropped the ball on accident because the noise of the phone scared the shit out of him. Who the heck is calling me? He thought to himself, yanking the cell phone from his pocket to see it still rining. "Hello? This is him speaking. Oh yes, I forgot about that, just leave it on my desk. I'll be in later to deal with it." He paused, "Alright thanks, I'll be back later." He hung up the phone, not ready to leave just yet. "Your pretty good at basketball." He turned his attention back at Basile, shoving his phone back in his pocket.

Now that was just rude. So, why was Bas laughing? Basile reached for the ball being held out of his reach, before trying a different tactic. If he couldn't reach it, he could make him drop it. But... how? He could trip him, but that seemed mean. So did pushing him. He needed something less aggressive. His gaze wandered, considering his options. Considering them, that was, until the cell phone rang. Was that his? It didn't sound like Basile's... But Basile pulled his own out, just to be certain. No calls. No texts. It was definitely Zach's. The ball thudded to the floor- no planning necessary. [break][break] The illusion was broke. Basile was playing basketball with the C.E.O. of a successful company. A company his school revered, and hoped they'd intern for. And here he was, teasing him like he was just one of Basile's friends. Basile's expression slipped again. He scooped up the fallen basketball and stood up straight with a dejected look as he listened to Zach. [break][break] Work really was his life, wasn't it? [break][break] "Yeah. I guess." Basile agreed. "But it's a waste of time." Bas tossed the basketball behind him, towards the bleachers. It hit the plastic bench with audible force, bouncing down a few rows before settling between the third and fourth bench. [break][break] "Anyway. It sounds like you're busy." Bas observed as he dug his now empty hands into his pockets. "I've got rehearsal for a play tonight. I should go get changed and practice some lines." He was giving Zach an out. Zach could return to his business world where everything was productive.
Zachary was having a hard time paying attention to his assistant, his mind was else where. Once the call came to an end his mind was focused exactly where he wanted it to be. Basile. His complament seemed to go unnoticed when Basile tossed the basketball onto the blenchers. He was silent as he listened to Basile speak. Yeah I should go... But my mind isn't on work right now. How can I focus on work when I want to be here? "Busy yes." He agreed, "But a wise man told me I should try and have fun." He smiled, "Well now who is the one running off for bigger and better things?" He asked, turned out work was more important after all.
Zachary made his way over towards the blenchers, grabbing the basketball, before making his way back down. He was still on the last blencher row when he added, "Unless you have some time to spare. Had ny phone not rang, I wouldn't have dropped it." Another pause before he pulled out his phone, "Speaking of phone." He pushed the side button to turn it off, boy would his assistant be annoyed if they couldn't contant him. He shoved it back into his back into his pocket, purposely moving the ball around, trying to encourage Basile to go after it. "What will it be?" His attention was all on Basile now.

Wise man? Basile smiled, easily swayed. He was pretty wise, wasn't he? Basile chuckled to himself again. When Zach retrieved the ball, Basile decided to give him one more chance. After all, rehearsal didn't start for a while yet. And besides, Basile was still full of nervous energy. He liked the physical exercise, and he liked the attention. It wasn't often that he had a stranger basically catering to his whims, helping him to forget his worries. [break][break] "You would too have dropped it. I was just about to drop you." Basile grinned mischeviously. He didn't grab for the ball- Zach was already taller, and it seemed futile. But at least Zach's phone was off. [break][break] "C'mon, don't hog the ball. Let's play." Basile challenged, ready to guard whenever Zach tried to advance towards the basketball hoop to make his next shot. [break][break] "Too bad all that money can't get you anywhere here." Basile taunted, perhaps still a little irritated that Zachary took the call in the middle of their "game".
Zachary raised an eye brow, "Is that so?" He challenged, disappointed that he missed out on that chance. Well, there us akwats next time. Basile told him not to hog the ball and Zachary laughed, "You mean this ball?" He asked, jumping from the blenchers. He dribbled the basket ball, trying to figure out if he'd be able to tease Basile without losing the ball to him. Basile's comment caught him by surprise and he chuckled, "It does, if say, this ball goes missing." He joked, tossing the ball. I haven't had this much fun in ages, where'd the time go?

"Uhhuh, money will buy the school a new ball when you keep that one as a momento of your inevitable defeat." Basile taunted, advancing on Zach before trying to swipe the ball away from him. He didn't really think Zach would keep the ball, but the idea of Zach having it as a sort of reverse trophy amused Basile, as if ensuring he'd never forget this moment where work didn't matter- they were both here, attention on the other, on the moment they were sharing. [break][break] "When's the last time you played basketball?" Basile quizzed. It wasn't a joke or a taunt, he sincerely wanted to know when the last time Zachary just relaxed and had fun was. Not that he'd asked that- there were plenty of things Zach could do that were fun besides basketball.
Zachary laughed, "If they found out." He answered back, not planning on losing. Memories of playing sports crossed his mind, his brother loved playing sports, in fact he still did. He was pulled from his thoughts when Basile asked when he had played basketball last. "I'm that bad, huh?" He joked, "The last time I played... It was when I was in high school. That was short lived though because I graduated at the age sixteen." He paused before adding, "My younger brother is into sports, he had yet to tell me which one he likes better. I think football is his favorite but I played basketball with him before I left for college." Now one might wonder how old he was, not that he minded.
"I'm only twenty-two." He shrugged his shoulders. I'm still the oldest one here. He thought to himself with a smile. "When was the last time you played?" For all he knew the answer could be earlier today or yesterday but he was curious so he asked. "When did you decide acting was your career choice?" The subject was changed, it was okay to ask him that right, even though they had only just met.

Twenty-two? That meant there was five years difference. Basile decided not to volunteer his own age- no need to emphasize how young he was, right? [break][break] "Umm... couple weeks ago?" Basile answered uncertainly. He wasn't really sure, but that sounded right. His classmates often had quic pickup games, and though he wasn't popular, he was one of those people who would get wrangled in from time to time. Basile's attention was still on the basetball, though. He made another swipe at the basketball, and by some stroke of luck finally managed to make contact with the ball, sending it falling. [break][break] It was probably because Zach was too busy talking rather than any real skill on Bas' part. Regardless of the reason, Bas snatched the ball, grinning in triumph until the next question: when did he know he wanted to be an actor? [break][break] "When I was younger, I just... wanted everyone to listen to me. My sister's my dad's favorite, and I was always in the middle." Basile explained, not quite sure why he was being that honest. His explanation was cut short as he dribbled towards the basket, shooting the ball. This time it sunk into the net. [break][break] "Ha! Take that!" Basile's eyes were bright with excitement. "Your ball." While he waited for Zach to retrieve the ball, he returned once more to answering the question. [break][break] "One of the ways I got everyone to listen was to tell stories. I guess it's kind of something my brother and I have in common- he tells stories with video games, and I tell them on stage." Basile elaborated, waiting for Zach to get ready so he could guard him again. [break][break] "Anyway, I used to make up plays that my brother and sister would perform with me. But I also convinced my parents to let me perform in community theater." In other words, it hadn't staretd out as a career choice, really. Even now Basile didn't really see it as a career, so much as just something he did. Basile got in position to guard, waiting for his chance to steal the ball. [break][break] "When my siblings got too old for it, I was already really good at it, and I had a lot of friends. It just became what everyone knew about me." That was probably more than Zach needed to know about him. Weren't they playing a game? Basile told himself he wasn't going to talk that much again, but it was an idle thought.
Zachary nodded his head when Basile told him the last time he played basketball. Basile sent the ball flying and Zachary went after it but slower. He was also distracted with making conversation that he didn't have his heart completly in the game. Basile told him that he shared stories and decided when he was younger that he wanted to become an actor. Basile threw the ball and it went threw the hoop. Basile told him it was his ball and he ran over to grab it. I feel like I'm out of practice. I've been running so much.... He thought to himself, getting into position before dribbling the ball.
Basile was blocking him once more. "I see." He answered, finding himself distracted once more. "Perhaps you can tell me a story after I win." He suggested, mostly joking but was serious too. He lifted his arms in the air, preparing to make another shot. Between him and his brother, he couldn'd win, but he had a chance against Basile and he planned on taking it.

"You're not going to win, hotshot." Basile laughed. Didn't someone once say the trick to winning was confidence? He definitely didn't have a particular reputation for skill or luck, so confidence was what he'd go with. [break][break] "Go see a play- they're a hundred times better than anything I think up. Go watch Wicked- it's magnificent. I'm sure you've got a fancy business jet, don't you? New York's waiting. Broadway's full of stories." Basile suggested as an alternative. He would have loved to go to New York. He'd have given anything to leave the island, to see the big city... So, why wouldn't everyone want to? Zachary actually had the means to live the dream, to see the city in person. [break][break] "What made you decide you were going to run a business?" Basile asked, knowing nothing of Zachary's father's health. While he waited for an answer, he made another attempt at the ball, this time trying in vain to knock the ball as he shot it.
Zachary just grinned, "But if I do..." He answered back. Basile mentioned the play in New York. It was true that he had a means to get there but he was just so lonely. "I might go." He answered before adding, "To bad I don't have somebody to go with." He'd have loved to pick Basile but they had a huge age gap, Basile was still in high school after all and well, he couldn't risk ruining Basile's schedule for a little bit of fun. He did have school after all and rehearsals, who knew what else was on that list. It seemed as if he'd be going alone if at all.
Basile then asked him why he decided to run the family business. "Well to be truthful, growing up I didn't know what I wanted to do and it was sort of forced on me by my father. With graduating high school at sixteen my father was proud to send me to college out of state. I first decided because my brother was good at sports and had a dream of what he wanted to be, I knew I had to take the family business so that he could live out his dream. I decided that I liked it when I was in college learning about business and when I retired home from graduating I helped my father run it." He purposely avioded admitting that between college and college graduation, his family had found out he was a werewolf.
Even with it in his bloodline, it made his life harder in proving to his father he could take over. "I become Ceo when my father became sick. I think my biggest motive is that I want to make sure I succed so that my brother doesn't have to give up his own dreams." In the process of throwing the ball, it was hit, keeping it from going in the hoop. He was distracted once more, "I'm hoping he gets better but I'm a little fearful his health is just getting worse." He confessed before shaking his head slightly. He was tired from all the running, sure he excercised but it was still a lot of running for him.
